Has anyone had a chrome camera refinished in black paint by CRR in Luton? I'm considering getting a second M2 for the purpose of getting this done to it.

What is the quality of the finish like? How quickly does it brass?

Comments on your experiences welcome - as are photos.

hi
i had my m3 done 5 months ago. i'd bought an absolute beater with the idea getting the repaint done. it had extreme fungus and a shoddy paint job done on it previously. peter advised me that it was complicated because of its previous condition. it was beautiful when it arrived altghough it is brassing fairly easily now. i spoke to peter and he was shocked as i am the first case of this happening. he looked over his paperwork and wrote me a letter explaining that the complications may be the problem. peter has agreed to look at it again for me next year gratis. he is an absolute gentleman! despite my problems i recommend him wholeheartedly.

last one now. also worth mentioning that he does two kinds of black - the satin which i went for or gloss as well.

Very nice and having had an m4 serviced by Peter i'm sure it's in top order. His paint is very matt though and personally I've always liked the more gloss finish. The originals always look very gloss, m2 and m3 that is. M4's seem to vary from early ones which appear the same, quite glossy to later ones which have a more matt finish.

i am partial to the gloss too and may go that way when it goes back in. peter did suggest that the satin finish was more hardy which he thought would be better in my case

Thanks for the replies, folks. I'll be browsing the picture threads - I see (now) that there's one dedicated to black paint refinishes.

And thanks for the photos, kehng - very nice. I didn't know there was a choice of gloss or matt - need to think about that (but leaning towards gloss somewhat).
