Last night's lunar eclipse over Sydney was absolutely beautiful, after the cloud cover dispersed during the second half. I took a number of photos with a 550D on a tripod using a 70-200 lens and 1.4x converter; this photo is at 448mm equivalent taking the 1.6 APS-C crop factor into account:

Did anyone else take some photos? Please post them here and share them!

Binoculars, 8x 42, 80mm motor driven refracting telescope, OM2n with the 200 f4, the Leica C-lux 2 and the iPhone and two tripods all in the cupboard as the bloody rains kept coming down. Many eclipses and other wonders have I missed down here but I will always go out, hoping for break in the clouds, but not last night, no hope. Lovely shot Lynn.

i only got away with a handheld one on my D90 with 85 1.4 from the 7th story roof of my apt building slightly outside of seoul (less light pollution)

i brought my longer lenses back to the States, and my tripod is at a friends house

1:1 cropped but still lousy version:

Richard, I still have my Coolpix 4500 - couldn't bear to part with it. Still have the slide copy attachment, too. Lovely camera for macros.

That sure was a lovely eclipse photo you took back in '07.

Thanks so much Lynn. Yes the macro on that camera is fantastic. I've just revived it in the last week while my X100 is in being fixed.

awesome photo, Lynn. 🙂 i saw a bit of the eclipse before it was fun but then passed out as i was too tired. no way i could have captured such an awesome photo.... i'm jealous. 🙂

thanks for the comments guys - if anyone else has eclipse photos, please post them!

Richard - I had sent a link to Mike Johnston shortly after uploading it to Flickr. It was a nice surprise to see he'd mentioned it. As Bill Pierce said recently: "I saw something wonderful. Let me show it to you." This is one of the joys of photography.
