my d90 with 28-105 arrived today, a day early. (thank you canada post)

looks new, feels great and i even figured out how to turn it on without looking at the manual!

now for the incidentals..which strap to use, what bag to put it in...

looking forward to the weekend and some shooting time.

Congrats, but in reading the thread title, I thought that the Nikon D4 had dropped early. I have a friend in the upper echelons of Nikondom, and asked him in an email about any advance info not the D4, he replied, "What D4?" Not in the market though, my D90 suits me fine. Enjoy yours!

BTW, you do understand that it is not a rangefinder and it has the ability to focus itself, some sort of electronic bit inside.

Domke 1" gripper strap, domke F4af with the lenses you're talking about getting.Or an F6 without the grip.At least, that's what I used on it.

from what i have on hand...i'm thinking leather wrist strap and domke 5xb.

might eventually get a gordy long strap and after a few more lenses i can use my domke 5xc...

Different strokes dept. - I like the Optech on light cameras, but using one

on my film Nikon SLR gave me too much bounce while walking... even

worse when running - although I try not to do the latter anymore.

Re: strap
I personally use neoprene straps with dslrs (d700). I find them so much more comfortable than anything out there... this is mainly due to dslrs being heavier however.
With a d90, you might be able to get away with a Domke gripper strap.

I had five pentax slr'ses landing last week on me, need some CLA and then its off again with film....so I'am not alone with less time now for rangefinders:

Joe, I missed all earlier threads on this.

What brought about the purchase? If you don't mind me asking. And what happened to the X100? I thought you were getting along well with that.

Have I been living under a rock?

You are not allowed to read the manual. You must dive in and try to do it without. Then when you are completely stuck, you read the manual. But just the bit to get you through where you are stuck. Then you can put the manual away until the next time you are stuck. This is the way man does behave since Adam was a lad...
