Someone put a digital back onto their Rollei. It shouldn't be too difficult to do, if you have the digital back and some mechanical expertise.

Funny, this question just came up yesterday in the Ricoh forum on DPR. A few responders have pulled up examples of early digital cameras with LCDs on top. One even proposed an option to reverse the image so it's upside down!

Yep - for me it's mostly the fun factor... or the experience rather (which is really the main reason I enjoy RFs so much).

Imagine looking down on a digital 6x6?!? Plus you probably won't need a Maxwell screen to brighten things up as that option will be in the menu!

I shoot my NEX-5N with the screen fully flipped up, looking down on it about 80% of the time just for the pseudo TLR experience. If only the images had the quality of my Yashica LM.

I don't need it to be medium format even. A nice 24x24mm square would due for me... I'd even settle for a high quality LCD on top. 😉

I think the closest you'll ever get is Samsung's digital MF which is in a SLR format; if they release it that is 🙁

We don't need a TLR if we just want a big LCD to focus with.
The beauty of a TLR system is the ground glass (or fresnel) that forms the viewfinder.

Of course we'd want the sensor to match the size of the 6x6 film otherwise we'll lose the depth perception and basically back to infinite dof look of a typical digital P&S.

Isn't the film and the processing part of the experience? I would have thought so. Maybe I should try using a TLR one day, but every time I pick one up, the mirror image viewfinder scares me to death!
Noob question though, why would you want a digital TLR if you could have a Hasselblad with a waist level finder and digital back?

Not sure why, but when I came across this thread I had this weird image of one of those plastic lomo TLRs.

Not to me... photography is photography no matter the medium. However, cameras are what is in my hand and I need to be comfortable with what is in my hand. There is nothing better for creative momentum than using a camera you absolutely love.
