Yul Brynner and Leica

Thanks for this. There is a very good book on Yul and his love of photography edited by his daughter Virginia who obviously loved her dad.

Here is a link on Amazon

Judging by the range of cameras he is shown using he was every bit a camera geek and would have felt quite at home on this site. But do not get me wrong he was a damn good photographer not just a dilettant judging by the images in the book

I see that there is now another book out too.

I've seen a few of these before. He was a great photographer, in addition to having remarkable access to the really famous people of the time. The photo of Grace Kelly is just amazing.

Reminds me of the lyrics to Stephen Malkmus' song Jo Jo's Jacket.

There is an exhibition with the photos in London, as mentioned in the final slide of the BBC article. Looks interesting and the photos look rather good!

Love the Charlton Heston photograph the second Audrey Hepburn and the Grace Kelly photo aren't bad either. It's funny that they had to free Heston from the chains what dedication to their craft some of the Actors had and a few still have.

Nearly forgot thank you for the link.

I liked most if not all the pictures shown here. He obviously had access others would envy him. But he evidently had talent and vision too. The picture of Frankie boy getting of a helicopter with a drink in his hand is epic. As is the Grace Kelly shot.

Thanks for the heads up Roger, very interesting as I had not know about Yul Brynner's photography. Yul was certainly talented, both in front of and behind the camera.
