Nice size and styling on that lens.

Do you recall what aperture (just roughly) was used for these shots?

That last image seems to be a 100% crop of the previous shot judging by the size and placement of the dust bunny. Not trying to be picky. Just to get a feel for how the lens is performing. p.s., never mind, just realized pics 2 and 4 are just enlargements of previous shots.

a bright hot morning of a close to 90F day,
used 50/2 Summicron lens profile
corrections for tone, contrast, exposure, no sharpness improvements

Is it E39 filter thread? It's a bit of a missed opportunity that the front of lens hasn't been configured to take clip on hoods like a 12585.

Sharpness looks nice and the focus falloff is pleasing. Not quite sure what to make of the bokeh; looks like it has a nice painterly thumbprint in some pictures and is a bit buzzy in others. Looks like a sweet lens. Nice and compact.

Looks nice, but it would be nicer when the lens was "all black" IMO. The Color-Skopar 50mm f/2.5 is black paint; its looks are hard to beat as is its performance.

Some random, unordered thoughts:

• The front of the lens diagram looks a lot like Rolleis 40mm Sonnar**, (blue diagram) then after the cemented doublet what looks like a field flattener (reins in field curvature and/or distortion) and then another element whose purpose I am uncertain about - maybe @Sonnar Brian has an idea - perhaps to straighten out the (Sonnar typical) glancing rays somewhat for use on digital sensors?
• This means it's also somewhat close to the 38/2.8 Contax T/T2 Sonnar - however these two have the sign of the cemented doublet inverted but are otherwise very close
• Its Sonnar heritage is - to my eyes - at least partially borne out in the bokeh which has a Sonnar-typical deformation towards the corners where the edge facing away from the center is open
• This is further cemented by the way the entire image is overlaid with spherical aberration at full aperture, including chromatic shifts within the spherical aberration (see the FM sample picture with the post box) which are again typical for Sonnar lenses
• I do like the new design language that Cosina has found for themselves after a lot of experimentation and some "ho-hum" looking lenses - it's not as retro looking as I would like, perhaps but I can still appreciate the neat and tidy design

As a Sonnar aficionado, I am definitely interested.

**it really actually is much closer to the "Ernostar" design than the typical Sonnar, but who's counting these days, Zeiss basically labels everything "Sonnar" these days
