Hi guys
I just bought a Hexar AF from a very nice gentleman for 250€. It is really in mint condition, but he sold it to me because he didn't understand the little monster.
He said that it doesn't take a picture when he wants it to. I tried focussing the camera at his house and boy what a fast AF it has! But... now that I am home I am trying to dry fire the camera. I focus on something and it won;t shoot. Surprisingly it will fire at other moments when I for instance, aim at the floor, but 99% of all the times, it wont fire.

Make sure you are not trying to focus inside the minimum distance. If it still doesn't work it may be the well known shutter button issue. There is a link to how to fix that from a recent thread on Hexar AF reliability.

Take off any filter on the front. If you focus closest range with a filter attached, some filters make the lens jam into them and the camera will have an error that makes it refuse to shoot.

Apparently thats why your "nice gentleman" unloaded it on you.

The dreaded shutter release syndrom.
You are in for a repair (tech or DIY).
The good news are that it's a great camera...

The fix is doable. I've done it twice now.
