OM, I've become a Zuikoholic!

The smallish Bessa SLR was called a Bessaflex and it was an M42 screwmount body so it would take those fine Pentax Super Takumar lenses. It had a brighter viewing mechanism than the Spotmatics and a much better light meter. It should as it was forty years newer. I had one and, utter fool that I am, sold it in order to buy a IIIg - which I couldn't see out of at all.

A lot of people liked this shot when I first posted it in the gallery last week. It is from one of my first rolls from my OM-1n after putting it back into service for the first time in ten years. This is a street shot done with the 2.8/135 mm in Tokyo

I'm thinking about getting a NEX 7 and an adapter for this lens (and for my M lenses). I wonder if that would be a good combination.....

the 50/2 macro is the sharpest lens in the whole OM lineup (it's about on par with nowdays Zeiss 50/2 macro), together with the 90/2 macro, closely followed by the 100/2 and 28/2, it's crazy sharp already from wideopen

Indeed - it is by several accounts the best fast-ish 50mm lens in the world. Many many people claim it to be superior in all respects to the much-ballyhooed Leica Summicron-M 50mm - there has to be at least some truth behind such observations.

I do have to question the "sharpest OM lens" moniker though - it's certainly in the top three or so, but the 250/2 is probably truly unmatched, like the tests indicate 🙂

Do you have the 50/2 Macro? I'd love to see some B&W images from this lens. I've only handled one, wouldn't mind to have one someday. But one should probably only have so many 40mm/50mm lenses!

How about this and until someone comes up with a more scientific solution you're allowed 4 to 5 lenses of the same focal length for every camera body you happen to own...and of course it's Nikon body:Nikon lens or whichever maker you happen to own...no mixing brands...third party lenses exempt...and then there are Tamrons but we'll deal with that later...:bang:

Now that sounds a great idea I think I have been doing it recently with junk shop and low priced cameras, I keep picking them up for less than £5 who can say no?

Zuiko 21/2 in colour

I wrote about the Zuiko 21mm before, claiming that, because of massive abberations off-axis wide-open, it really shouldn't be used for flat, even lit, contrasty subjects wide open (e.g. landscape, architecture). I just wanted to post a counter-example, the type of subject that the leans does really well with wide open:

For such a subject, you'd be hard pressed to fault it. 50% of the Summilux 21mm f/1.4 look for 10% of the price 🙂 And the closest I'll probably ever get to one. I love creating the feeling of space with a fast wide angle, where it doesn't look like you're sitting right opposite somebody at a tiny table. At f/8, this lens is great across the field in all respects:

I am new to scanning and processing colour negative film, and I hate trying to get the colours right. The dynamic range is immense! Monochrome at heart...

BTW, something has happened to me. I suffered a back injury in an accident twelve years ago and it came back with a vengeance earlier this week.

I can barely walk now and have been confined to bed for the most part.
I've been living on painkillers and muscle relaxers for two days now.

I'm going back to bed. Now's your chance! 😀
