Hi. Me again, with another problem. There seems to be a white band on the window of my M6 ( I dont know what the window is called ). What does the window do anyways ? Bought the M6 2 years ago from Igor on ebay.

I'm not sure what the white mark is. I wouldn't worry about it unless you are experiencing problems with your frame lines in the finder. Perhaps someone at Leica was splashing white paint around on the production line, but I would not count on it.

The slats in the window are a fresnel screen that channels more light towards the framelines. They were introduced w/the M2 in 1958.

Without a more detailed photo, it's hard to tell what the white mark in your 2nd shot is.
