Artist or Terrorist -- Oly 40-150

I thought about the risk and then remembered that I was in Arizona, the “shoot first and ask questions later” state, so I shot away with my camera.
That's funny.

I think we've gone overboard in this country--it does seem we have a tendency to overreact in situations like this (although as I sit here, that's not quite fair. I think the British are even worse with their practically Soviet- style policies re photography)

This post reminds me of the story of the American tourist in Soviet Russia who was accosted by state security for taking a photo of a brick wall. The reason? Behind the wall was a munitions factory--which the tourist never would have known if the security folks hadn't hassled him about it--great way to keep a state secret.

Seems about as silly to prohibit photographing a building which is in plain sight of the world.

I remember a great line from an old movie called "Road Scholar":
Tourists are terrorists with cameras; terrorists are tourists with guns.

Thanks for all the comments and compliments!!! :)

kermaier, I love that quote! Never saw that movie, but thanks!!!

Best everyone!

Do ya think? The capacity for critical thinking has sunk below the belly of a snake in hell. Not that I believe in hell.

Thanks - nice post. I left a comment on your blog. By the way, my passport turned up, and the camera I was using on the trip I wrote about was an Olympus Stylus Epic with the 35 mm 2.8 lens.

And the morons up North are following. They laughed at the US for reelecting GWB and managed to elect that guy THREE time. *sigh*

At least they haven't started arresting people randomly... oh wait, strike that last. Toronto G20.

Thanks! Still using my Stylus Epic. Great little camera with spot metering (!!!).
