The rest of the discussion is really interesting when it isn't full of mansplaining/admonishments, or downright insults.

It's often hard to tell in print what is tongue-in-cheek.

I've seen posts here like yours that were intended seriously. Unless I know the poster well, I am often challenged to tell what is serious and what is intended as humor.
