Leica Summicron 35mm f/2: POST your photos

This week I am using a v4 Cron on loan. So far, it seems simple enough to shoot a prime 35 but it takes a lot more thinking about composition as I have spent the last XXX years using 50 primes and teles.

Very nice images posted on this thread but almost not helpful at all. When one uses an M9, the images are quite different than film images when using an M2 or such.

I would like to see more description of camera/lens/film/ISO shot/developing, etc. to get a better idea of what the 35 Cron will actually produce. After shooting a few rolls this week, maybe I can come to a conclusion of how it works for me. (Some are doing this, like jon, and it is much appreciated.)

But it would be nice to take my own shooting data and compare with the images posted. Just my opinion... worth every cent paid for.😛

Hello,

for my shots, if you see the file name starts with L, then it is shot by the m9. for all others it would be film and the type of film would be indicated by the file name displayed under the image. 🙂

Some very nice images in this thread. One interesting observation, that I have always suspected - and which this thread proves over and over - is that there is absolutely no substance to the claims that the Version 4 Summicron has any kind of special or "good" bokeh whatsoever.

Turns out it's just like any other fast 35mm lens - depending on circumstances, out-of-focus rendition can be nice and smooth, or downright awful.

The only rangefinder lens that I have ever encountered with consistently perfect bokeh is the Voigtländer Heliar 50mm f/3.5 - and that's probably because it's such a slow lens with such a "low-energy" design. Example here.
 
Another observation: The Summicron 35mm f/2.0 is, above all, a storytelling lens. With this lens more than any, people post more photojournalistic accounts of people and experiences.

So much more interesting!

Yes, thank you. The M9 images are actually quite easy to pick out. The film images give me difficulty though with so many variables and makes it impossible sometimes to compare with anything I may produce with the v4 on my M3.

The reason I finally choose the cron v4 is its 0.7m focusing comparing to the 1m of the lux-pre, nearly as amazing rendering as the lux and the E39 filter. Yes I like the lux more than any other 35's, but 1m is critical for me, I often come to a situation that 1m is still too far.

v1-v4, Canada or Germany, it doesn't make big difference to me. I've ever used all the cron 35's except the asph and shot at least 50 rolls. When I put all the photos together I can just say, I can't tell them apart most of the time. They're just awesome, choose one that fits in the hand and enjoy!
