New York March Meet-Up

Nice... congrats on the Baby(?). John Chee said he'd have a NEX-7 by then too...

Thanks, John. No idea about the sexuality at this point, but I am taking bets :D

Great, I will bring all of my NEX adapters (Contax G, Leica M, Leica R, M42 and cine-lens adapters) for John.

Before Cal get's an M9, someone should inform him that you can't add a winder to it.

Hanging out with John has been a bad-bad influence, but I asked him and enquired about a grip already for a M9. This would be manditory. LOL.

Now I wish I took advantage of my girlfriend when she offered to buy me a M9 when they first came out, but now she sees all these film cameras laying around in our modestly sized 1 bedroom apartment.

Back when she made the offer we lived in the typical old run down NYC row house, but we had more than double the space. Pretty unlikely she'll repeat that offer now.

Inside story: The Nex Tung calls his wife's camera. LOL. Next Tung's wife mentioned that they should get a Polaroid camera because it would be handy, and Tung buys a Hassy with a Polaroid back. LOL.

Pretty soon he'll have to get the baby a camera.

:p Yep, I am creative with lame excuses.
Talk to me before getting an M9, Cal, I will come up something new just for you. :D

My 2 year old has his own Canonet, dosent do much besides look through the viewfinder though.. :)
I was going to give it away to whoever wanted it, had a stuck shutter, I didnt think it was worth fixing.. when he was about 8 months old, he picked it up, and threw it across the room, fixed the shutter...
He does all my cla's now...

What if it's a boy? Get him a chairman Mao's M6? :D

No... the Greenbay Packers M6!

This meet-up is always trouble for me. You guys seem to make me crazy. I use to be just a regular guy who shot only film, but I figured out that I'm too lazy to scan so I thought getting a M9 is the slacker's way.

Anyways at this point its just talk, but I blame Andre for that shelf of MF gear I now own, and hanging out shooting with John has been a bad influence, not to mention Tung and John Chee. LOL.

Cal

How am I a bad influence? I don't even own much gear... you have way more.

I became less rigid about shooting only B&W film. Now I want to go really crazy and get a M9 and shoot color. I realize because I'm a slacker that scanning negatives is not for me, and getting a M9 is the slacker's way. Also you know me: I like to take mucho images, but otherwise I couldn't afford shooting color film.

Also need to edit down to grow as a photographer. At the last meet-up your blurb book of horizontal images kinda inspired me. I see where I have to go: I need to do something crazy and get a M9. Also since I've already taken my B&W shooting as far as I can go, except for all the wet printing, I need something new to obsess about.

In a way you have been grooming me by indicating that I already have great glass that would be great on a M9.

Also you are right: I have way too much gear. I can't use it all, but the M9 solution should streamline the herd. I can see me possibly selling my Noct-Nikkor and all my Fuji medium format to raise the funds. I will likely have less gear, but the gear I retain will get used rather heavily. I feel that owning less gear will be a good/great thing. Also you won't be able to make fun of all the cameras lined up on my shelves. LOL.

Perhaps I can also put a spin on it like Tung: my girlfriend is one of those techno-weenies. Perhaps if I get a M9 she will enjoy doing my digital workflow. In the past she did inquire about getting a Leica M9 for her own use; the only problem is that she may want to use my M9. LOL. Well maybe not, she never touches my tube stereo because she's afraid/terrified of breaking it. Anyway I already use her as my digital assistant, she emails the cyberdoorman for deliveries and tracks my packages from KEH. You know me: I'm just a lazy slacker.

Anyways its all crazy fun.

CAL.................

The M9 is in your future.. GO FOR IT.... remember how I suggested the 28 cron for you? ;-) lol

Recent acquired R9 and Summicron-R are bad ass kit to look at, competes with the Canon F-1n. If I can make it this time, will show...

I regret that somehow I double booked April first and will be unable to attend the Meet-Up.

I'll be running in Central Park for Colon Cancer. Did this last year also.

Good thing there will be a second Meet-Up later in April.
