I haven't been posting a lot lately, mainly because I haven't really been taking a lot of photos lately. Life gets busy; more work, new home, new expenses. You know how it is.
One perk is that I get sent to Europe now and again for work. Paris, specifically. I've posted a lot of Paris photos before, so I won't go into those again. But those have been times that I've gone myself, so I could geek out on being a camera nerd and walk around with gear and spend some time looking for a decisive moment.
Luckily this time around I had my wife with me. I find when I'm with my wife I'd rather spend more time with her rather than focusing on the camera... but this may be something I have been to conditioned to prefer over the course of the relationship.
But the point still stands! Rather than worry about DSLR lenses and bodies (and I had access to the latest and greatest on this trip), I stuck with the Canon S90. Something I can put in my pocket and not wear around my neck, something I'm not worried about breaking, something that takes wonderful quality photos in most situations. In short, something I can enjoy a day with my wife with and still get great results. No pressure to get a postcard shot. I can just relax and have fun.
Luckily on my last day, I managed to get the day off. Since I had been to Paris so often (it was my fourth time) I wanted to get out and see more of Europe. So I went to the touristy city of Bruge, Belgium. I hadn't even heard of the city until seeing the movie, In Bruges. A movie which calls the place a ****hole ever two minutes or so.
But I thought it looked nice, I wanted to go to a country I've never been before, and plus my wife and I are beer lovers and the Belgians make the best beer in the world (NOTE: the US also makes the best beer of the world, but it also makes the worst which brings down the overall average).
And so, a dreary, then pleasant afternoon of Bruges, beer, and my beloved.

Oh man... this is definitely going on the itinerary for May - I'll be in that neck of the woods sometime near the end of May via France and I've heard wonderful things about the city (regardless of what that movie said *smirk*). Wonderful photos and a little glimpse of what I hope to see.

Thanks for the comments, all. The following day we were back to Southern California and back to work. Such is life.
The s90 is starting to show her age, unfortunately. I got mine when it was first released in '09 and it's had heavy use since then. Some pixels are starting to die in the sensor, dust covers the screen, I had some focusing issues during the trip here and there.

Yep. And thanks, she's very lovely and very sweet.
We're also opening an office in Hong Kong. So maybe I'll be going there as well... sounds cool but traveling so much for work can get stressful.
