Hi to everybody , I'm looking for a 50mm for my m8 .
It's only from one week that is in my hand , and I'm shooting with a 35 cv color skopar p that is very nice good immages and very important for me short focus from 0 to inf only a 1/4 of turn ( sorry for my english I hope you understand)
My budget is around 600 euro ( of course used one) .
Thankyou very much for any suggestions Bye Matteo

I would go with either:

CV Nokton 50 1.5 ...Beautifully Sharp with Lovely OOF and a Touch of Lux 'Feel' wide Open

Zeiss 50 Planar...Superb in Rendering
My FAVorite 50 at the Moment

Short focus throw 50mm lenses in your price range include the two Helen suggested as well as the CV 50mm Heliar Classic (1st version) and CV 50mm color skopar 2.5. .

Thank to everybody , I think that the cv nokton and the planar is the two best choice......I've allready find some one here in genova that I can also try the planar for 550 euro and on line I've found the cv for 350 euro ............maybe tomorrow illtry the planar .....

Hi, i´d recommend you a pair of 40mm lenses, the nokton 40 f1.4 and the rollei sonnar "slower" f2.8 ltm lens!

Perhaps the 50 nokton and planar lens are too big, remmember they´ll give you 66 mm fov, not the same filed of veiw than the 50 focal length!

Great camera had a chrome one and it was simply wonderful! far better built than my m9!

Just to keep things interesting look at the Leica 50/2.8 Collapsible Elmar. It's a good paring with the M8 as well.

While I too had for a short while the 50 Elmar collapsible, you need to be careful or at least aware to not collapse it while on the M8. OK, maybe it will, maybe it won't do any harm. but if it does do some harm. the handbook will be your enemy where it states quite plainly not to use them.

I had both the Nokton 50/1.5 and Planar 50/2. I sold the Nokton, the Planar is still with me. The Nokton is a solid performer in every regard; yet, I found it lacked character. The Planar gives that typical Zeiss look with strong contrast, bold colours, superb sharpness even wide open and that famous "3D pop". I prefer it by far over the Nokton. But that is of course a matter of taste, and just my two €-cents.

There is no problem here, and Leica made an official statement that it can be collapsed. They only warn against mounting it in collapsed condition, because you might scratch the matte balck inside.
