35mm Summilux pre asph and Canon 35 f2

Does anyone have both a 35mm Summilux pre asph and a Canon 35mm f2 ltm, I have the Summilux but have often thought about picking up the Canon how does the size and ergonomics compare. I already have a 28mm Summicron and don't really think I can justify a 35mm Summicron I was very close to selling the 28 but decided to keep it so on the hunt for a 35mm with better ergonomics than the summilux.

Hi, i had a canon 35mm f1.8 and a friend of mine a lux 35mm first version....have to say the lux couldn´t stand for the quality of the canon lens...

NEver had a canon f2 but people say it´s one of the best lenses around in comparison with it´s peers.

I had both lenses in parallel for a short time, used the Canon 35/2.0 for one roll and then sold it ... While the ergonomics of the Canon lens are easier to get used to (it takes some time getting used to the Summilux controls) and it takes normal filter, I did not like the results ...

I find it to be one if the easiest lenses to use. Are you meaning the aperture tabs?

No the focus tab, not so much its hard too use just that I can focus a non focus tab lens faster.

It's currently with Malcolm Taylor for a service as it wasn't exactly in the "mint" condition the seller claimed it was (aperture ring not moving smoothly, oil on blades) so as soon as it returns I'll take a picture of the two lenses side by side and post it here.

I have had a Canon 32/2 in new condition, so I never used it, but I have used the first version Summicrom ans akso tne Lux. I sold tne Canon, but I am still heVily using the Summicron and the Lux. I would favor the Lux over the Canon simply by what this lens can deliver. The Canon is a poor man's Summicron. It has a great reputation.

Lux vs CanCron (what i call the Canon 35/2) is apples and oranges.

one is "big", "heavy", and EXPENSIVE- but gives you f1.4...
the other is tiny, light, relatively cheap, and limits you to f2.0 and 1m focus...

I think the Canon 35/2 is a close competitor to the CV 35/1.4 for "best RF 35 value".
The CanCron is a great little lens, if you can live with the 1m focus, which is the biggest issue in my opinion. I simply do not have the money to spend over $1k on lenses anymore (married, new baby, house, car note, etc etc), so i like affordable lenses.

This is inorrect or incomplete The pre-asph Lux is tiny in size. It is not larger than a Cron or Canon lens.

Its possible to get the minimum focus down to approx 0.8m, I've done the modification on mine. The modification is not for the light-hearted though as it requires shortening one of the helicoids. PM me if you'd like to know more...
