screen for rollei 2.8 F

Both types of screens are worth the money you pay. Most people choke a bit at paying the price of a Maxwell screen but once they use it that goes away. Compared to the stock older Rollei ground glass only screen, the Oleson is a definite improvement.

Write Rick Oleson and Bill Maxwell directly. Both guys are honest and can explain the differences.

I'm on a pretty tight budget and just put a Oleson screen in my 2.8D last week. Its a great improvement over the original screen. If you've got the money for the Maxwell screen, why not go for it? You'll have the most expensive screen money can buy and your mind will be at ease. If you just want a better screen than what you've got now and are tight on cash I don't think you'll be disappointed with Rick Oleson's screen, the whole screen is brighter especially in the corners and the split prism is a nice aid as well.

I put Rick Oleson screen in my 2.8C. I do not know what a maxwell screen looks like. Rick's screen is ok. It's worth $30 and no more. The screen I replaced was a screen made by Dave Parker ( satin snow ground glass). Dave's screen snaps the pic in focus much better but ricks screen has a split image. I may remove Rick's screen and keep it as a backup.

Here is an image of a screen by Rick Oleson. The dark area in the upper right corner is a dark object, and not a dimming by the screen. I have used 3 or 4 of Rick's screens and all made the cameras much more pleasant to use. He states on his web page that they aren't made to compete with Maxwell's screens. I have always been satisfied with the results. This is a view thru a Flexaret IV that I just installed Rick's screen in.

I improved my Rollei 2.8F screen by picking up a Mamiya RZ67 screen my local camera shop had lying around - cost me 15 bucks, roughly - and cutting it down to fit.

I want a Maxwell screen one day. But in the interim, this el cheapo fix has been excellent.
