nice small TLR bag

I'm not much for official camera bags. I prefer carrying a camera in a small padded bag in a knapsack, messenger bag, or such. This keeps open many options on how to carry things. I can carry the small bag in another bag, or pull various items like film and meter into pockets and carry just the small bag.

I've been keeping my eyes open for a bag to carry a Rolleiflex or 'Cord, and it looks as if I found one- LowePro Adventura 120.

A 2.8C fits in snugly. I often keep the lens shade on for short-term storage, like going into a restaurant or subway. A Rolleicord also fits well. Just enough room to roll up a strap to tuck inside and close the top. Bigger than the EverReady leather case, but softer and all in all about as small as you can get and provide protection, it seems to me.

A Tamrac bag, slightly smaller, less padding, slightly cheaper. Larger front pocket, though-

Well, thought I'd pass this along. Yes, a Minolta Autocord also fits well, and I can imagine most TLRs would fit, except the Mamiyas and maybe the metered Rolleis because of the extra meter bump.

I found a Domke F5 works well for such cameras (prolly pack two in standing upright if you have to).

Too bad my Rolleicord bit the big one after a cat knocked over the Plano tackle box used for parts storage while I was working on the shutter... I haven't found a 6x6 or 6x7 camera I like enough to replace it in my price range (I was starting a project on the rotting remains of Rust Belt rural towns when I decided to get the shutter in better calibration than 1.5 stops too hot...).
 
Dan, I have been looking for just such a bag for toting my "new" Yashica 635. Can you tell me if the Yashica is bigger or smaller than a Rolleiflex/cord? This Lowepro Adventura 120 even looks better than most other bags I have seen.

I'm off to check prices now, to see if it's within my budget!

A Yashica will be slightly smaller than my Rolleiflex 2.8. Ever so slightly smaller. For all intents, same size. My Rolleicord, maybe closer to the Yashica 635, fits nicely. As does a Minolta Autocord.

I ordered this through B&H Photo in New York. $25. Right now when I look, it shows 'free shipping.' Not certain if that will apply to Canada.

It looks like you could easily carry several rolls of film in the front pocket. Do you have room for a light meter alongside that camera? Say, something on the order of a Sekonic L-308?
 
If I took off the lens hood, an L-308 would fit well. There are also end pockets that will hold an L-308. For my minimalist setup, it's been working well. Meaning the camera, an L-308 meter, a filter or two, and a couple of extra rolls of film.
 
i really love the metal case for my 2.8 f. it is the best everywhere case i have for my tlr. whaterproof, the camera is ready in about 10 sec, no cap remove, filter screwing/unscrewing, place for two 120 films inside. the only disadvantege: it really looks strange, a women asked me where the tubes are, supposing it is a medical thing.

I kind of like ever-ready-cases. I know what every-one says, but...

If I am just transporting my Yashicamat, I carry it in the case over my shoulder, with the light meter case on the the strap, and a couple rolls of film. In my pocket.

If I am using the camera I carry it around my neck with the case open with the camera preset and ready too shoot.

The funny thing is, that is the way we did it back in the old days when we just had one camera. It was only when we had more than one camera, or a bunch of lenses that a gadget bag, as they were called back then, became necessary. Of course, these days it can be difficult to find a decent ERC.
 
I agree: the small LowePro bags are extremely versatile! I bought a LowePro Nova 1, and found it so useful I bought a second one. It will fit a hasselblad with a normal lens; or a Superwide CM; or an XPan; or a spare D300. It will serve as an overflow bag for extra lenses, filters, light meters, or . . .

Dan, I want to thank you for bringing the Lowepro Adventura 120 to my attention. Mine arrived in Friday's mail and it is indeed an absolutely perfect custom fit for my beloved Yashica 635 TLR. It's a very attractive, high quality, nicely padded bag which only set me back $25. There's even room for a couple spare rolls of film, filters, light meter. It's almost like this bag was made especially for my Yashica! Thanks again Dan, you've made my day!

And for any of you who may be hunting for a good looking, extremely well-made, compact bag for safely transporting your TLR, you won't do any better than the Lowepro Adventura 120!

I'm using an older Lowepro Nova Micro. I can toss a TLR or a Leica M (with 35mm lens with hood) and a 120 folder in the bag easily. Either way it also fits a few rolls of film, filters, meter (though thats usually in my pocket).

I picked it up for $3 at Goodwill. I've been tempted to replace it with something that looks a bit less like a camera bag as I carry it everywhere but haven't bothered yet.
 
I use a ThinkTank SpeedDemon, which allows me to bring a Rolleiflex Automat, lightmeter, and another 35mm body. Plenty of room for accessories.
 
This is bizarre - I had never seen a thread about bags for TLRs before I joined RFF, but about a year ago I was looking for bags and bought... the exact same LowePro! Funny how these things work. It's a nice bag. I store my TLR with hood on, and then the filters/Rolleinar on the side pockets. I sometimes put my meter in the front pocket, and it makes a nice little compact bag.

Well protected, much more versatile than a never-ready case.
 
Not too long ago I saw a Billingham bag that fit a Rolleiflex TLR very nicely in the Classifieds but I was out of cash and the bag sold within hours, so the ad was taken down

Until today I still haven't got a clue what model Billingham that was.

Anybody that can help me? Maybe the seller or the buyer of that bag?
