xPro 1 with m mount lenses... any pics yet?

i've been reading today about the X-PRO-1,the NEX 5N, the NEX 7 and the GXR all with the M mount. the NEX-5N seems to come out tops along with the GXR-M (m-mount). the NEX 7 seems to have some magenta colur shift with lenses wider than 21mm (21 and down). some say the X-Pro-1 is soft at the edges with the same wide lenses and that there might be some focusing problems (?).
i've seen images from the NEX cameras and the GRX all with M-Mounts but i have yet to see images from the X-PRO-1 with M-mount lenses. can anyone help with this?

and i am wondering, i know a lot of opinions are more 'techo-scientific' than on-the-ground-user observations of the cameras.,.. so i guess i just want good pics, sharp and within tolerable colour ranges. any takers here? i appreciate the help in this decision.

Wow, these are great! And a great choice of lens! It think I've read pretty much all there is on the net about the camera and all the reports are positive. And Fuji say they have addressed the magenta colour staining with wider lenses with their native adaptor. So I think I'm sold. Might get the 18 as well as the adaptor for my M lenses...

X Pro 1 crop factor?

might be a silly question... but i've not read in the reviews what the crop factor is for the XP1... any clues? i have ordered a body with the 18mm lens as well as the fuji M adaptor for my CV lenses. i'm planning a trip out west (australia) and want to know in advance what lenses i might take. and of course, pics WILL follow....! kind of excited about this...

any help there?

Tom, selling my M8 last week in favor of the X-P1 was an easy decision because I'm basically just a zone focus shooter. IMO both rangefinders and the Fuji suck for fast focusing so I went for a newer camera with higher resolution and ISO capabilities.

I used the DOF calculator on my phone to get practically 100% DOF. I left my lens on f/11 (since it was obviously very sunny) and the focusing distance at 15 feet... with that combo I created a (should I be ashamed to say this) point-and-shoot camera.

I'm sold. I like the 18 and 35 with auto focus for low light shooting and I'm quite happy with most of the results, but the Fuji system isn't really great for manual focus (except zone focusing, of course).

I'm going to work a bit more with these two lenses but I'm willing to invest in a decent lens with the fuji adapter (when it is available here) and see if I can't go up another level. I'm thinking Leica Elmarit-M 28 mm f2.8 - either new or used - as my intro into high quality lenses. I was really reluctant at first because I thought you would lose all of the auto features, but being able to keep the auto exposure working makes this pretty much a no-brainer way to start. If I somehow DON"T like the setup, this lens should be easy to sell at a small loss in short order 🙂

I'm not understanding what the manual focus issue here is with legacy glass that seems so problematic for so many folks its now become like an urban legend. I have used olympus m4/3 for a couple years now including the new omd everyone on this forum is raving about. Legacy glass manual focus is achieved the same way as on the xpro, via image magnification. No one, including me, seems to have any problem focusing the olympus, so why all this whining about the xpro?

I can see at least two issues. One is that many people who have used both cameras (or many different modern EVF cameras) say that the Fuji EVF is significantly worse in quality. The other issue is that some people think of the X-Pro 1 as a rangefinder replacement, which it (or the Olympus OM-D) really isn't. Shortly, users find it is easier to manually focus using a better EVF, and/or it is easier to manually focus using a rangefinder.

I am only summarizing what I have read on this and many other forums several times here, I have no experience of the X-Pro 1 EVF. The one on the OM-D is pretty good, although I would much prefer a better one even on that camera.

That's awesome... just bare in mind that zone focusing is much easier at a wider focal lengths and lower f stops. I'm not sure what type of shooting you do most but shooting at a 42mm equivalent and utilizing the lens at f/2.8 the DOF is going to be very narrow if shooting close... but not too bad at all if your average subject is 15-25 feet away.

Thanks, scottm.. I'm impressed with the lens on the xpro1 body. I do not have the 25 but I do have the 15 and 21... I love the 21..! I now have the camera with the kit 35 and waiting for the Fuji adaptor for the M lenses. So far I'm enjoying the camera. Shooting a CD cover job with it as a backup gun today... Sadly I can't get the body to recognise my Nikon flash devices...
