The best 50mm for 1000us???

It will depend on what you like to shoot, but if we include second hand, you have 3 fantastic options in my opinion:
1) Rigid/DR Summicron - unbeatable for B&W
2) Planar 50/2 - best value modern lens on the market, but very sharp and very contrasty
3) C Sonnar - best 50mm portrait lens ever, but not so easy to manage due to focus shift

Hi, i´d rather use a C-sonnar and/or a planar 50mm zm lens....

The first one fine for any kind of shooting, very small given the large aperture...not to mention it´s optical capabilities well known to many photogs.

The planar 50mm lesser fast but ultrasharp and great price.
Perhaps a good deal would be a rollei sonnar.

Hm, Heliar 50/f3.5 if you can live with the speed, Nokton 50/f1.5 otherwise for a relatively light and consistent lens, and Nokton 50/f1.1 if you want a high-speed lens and don't mind the bulk.

Millenium Nikkor + Amedeo adapter. WOW !!!!!
I dont have info about this lens.. you?

I do -- Nikon's re-release of the "olympic" version of the 50mm f1.4 in 2000, sold as a set with the Nikon S3. The lens does show up occasionally for sale as a stand-alone item. This lens is bigger than the standard S-mount 50mm. The Millenium version has new coating. I bought mine from a fellow RFF here. The Amedeo adapter will allow the S-mount Nikkor to go on the Leica M with full rangefinder coupling. Amedeo is also an RFF member.

See this article here on comparing the Millenium Nikkor with the 50 Lux FLE.

The sonnar 1.5 is such good value for the money. Good sharpness wide open, yet stopped down it is very sharp. I love the look wide open - don't buy this lens to shoot stopped down all the time.

Hi Crist,
You are getting a lot of help here, identifying great lenses, and some help spending $1,000. If you don't need to spend that much, consider the Canon rf 50 1.8. See Dante Stella's short write up.
http://www.dantestella.com/technical/canoleic.html
From there you can climb to the 1.5 or the 1.4 all Canon, and then you have the ones already suggested.
Enjoy your search.

A lot of people have recommended the DR Summicron. But depending on which camera you have, there will be compatibility issues...the rigid summicron is the same optically and is compatible with every M camera.

I would personally suggest one of the two Zeiss lenses, or the compact Leica Elmar-M.
