For $46,000 she is yours

Hi,

Well, " ...so mint Im scared to use it ;) ... " really that's the disadvantage of mint. I just can't see the point of it as you'd be worried about dropping it and it getting wet in the rain or stolen. So it ends up in a glass cabinet and gets dusted, admired and probably attracts burglars...

At times lie this I really appreciate my "fairly good condition" old stuff and I can use it and enjoy it.

Regards, David

PS Now this is "minty" to me. And nowhere near as expensive...

You wait!

Someone will start a thread here next week telling us they're a newbie who's just bought a black M3 and Summicron from eBay ... and can someone please tell them where the ISO dial is and how do you set it? :D

Its on the back Keith, just use your thumb.

There's always the possibility that it's a money laundering deal. A BBC radio programme a while back listed just some of the ways these things are worked. A ridiculously overpriced "collector's camera" sounds like the stuff they were talking about.

Yes I remember now ... when I had my M3 I accidentally bumped that dial in the Domke one day and underexposed half the roll of Tri-X.

I got around it by using two diffrent dilutions of Rodinal at once in the same tank. I half filled the Paterson with Rodinal at 50:1 then topped it up with a dilution of 25:1.

Came out real nice! :D

You used a leica with a cheap bag and plastic tank  ... you didn't the memo from Solms about their ethos changes then?

I'm offering $45K for it. Then this morning while having coffee a friend called and asked how I was doing? I stiffened my upper lip and said, "I can't talk right now ol' boy, I have an offer out for something really rare" He says, "How much?" "$45,000" "Wow" Then I say, "It's nothing, its only just the morning" feeling smug, I hang up.
Satisfaction.

Ah, the good old Rodinal Sunrise.

The price is nuts, but if it's all factory there may be something more to it.

As they say in the car industry, "You can restore it a million times, it's only original once."

I'm still trying to figure out how activate the AF setting for my MP. No luck yet...

I got close by completing thirteen counter-clockwise circles backwards under a full moon and chanting "Barnack". I am certain I was close to achieving autofocus but I was overcome with dizziness and fell over.

Does anyone know when the next meteor shower is?

Best regards,

Bob

There are lots of similar 'auctions' posted by Breguet. They don't expect to sell it at that price, or even sell it on ebay, but it's a great way to get cheap exposure.

For reference, a body in similar condition sold for about $15k recently (one of Youxin's.) I sold a similar lens a few months ago to a dealer in HK for a little under $6k.
