Fuji X-Pro1/X-E1comparison

Thanks for posting.

Hard to see why (except price) anyone would chose EVF only over the hybrid... And the xpro-1 is already a relatively good value.

For me possible second body to my xp1. I really do not like to do a lot of lens changing in the field. This gives me ability to have primary lens such as 35f1.4 on the xp1 and the secondary lens on the xe1 in my Timbuktu messenger bag..

The main advantage to the xe1 is lighter weight as the second carry plus cheaper cost for that second body.

Versus a xp2 which means the heavier xp1 will be in the Timbuktu instead and of course much more expensive.

So I am waiting to c what te rumored xp2 brings to the table, before I decide.

It's difficult to say "heavier xp1" in the same sentence and have it mean the conventional definition ;)
I don't care for the smaller form of this new camera.
It's off topic to say. I wish for an x100 type camera with a 50mm equivalent (and another with a 90mm equiv). Of course it will not happen.
Like Gary above I don't like to change lenses. Taking it further I actually prefer fixed lens cameras.

Lol Andy... Yes heavier is a very relative... When it comes to these cameras :D

If they bring out a new x100, I am hoping they upgrade to the 16mp sensor.

Wow that was quick. I am going to continue to be patient. The X Pro 1 stills speaks to me more than the XE-1... I just can't stomach the evf only option even though I know they have improved.

Excited to see what reports say about the upcoming firmware update for the XP1. I really want one badly. The discounts are nice.

I can't remember another time where fuji cameras were such best sellers in the mainstream. Maybe the XP1 was not a total success, from a sales standpoint, but the X100 sure was as it seems the XE-1 is now.

Maybe all the pre-orders are from blog reviewers lol... and that explains it.

thecamerastoreTV youtube page has a hands-on already..

personally, this camera doesn't interest me, I like optical vf too much. I have an X100 and use the optical as much as I can, although sometimes I need to switch to evf to make things work right.. I just don't think I could buy a camera that doesn't have an optical vf

The major interest of the X-E1 is not for us. It is for other people: the lower price. At least it has an EVF instead of a back LCD only.

I don't mind if that mean more nice lens and a future.

It's nice to have a choice and still enjoy those great Fujinon lenses.

The new 3X zoom focus mode should make using adapted lenses a bit easier too.

It DOES look a bit faster...and that's a good thing. On Sept 18 there will be a firmware update for the xp1 that will make the speed exactly the same.

Looks to me that the advantages of the xe1 are:

-smaller and lighter
-better evf viewfinder
-built in flash

Advantages of xp1:

-hybrid vf
-larger lcd
-more substantial body (all metal, not half plastic) and better heft

For me the VF is the most important of these features. In every other respect they are equal, so it isn't too big a deal either way unless OVF is your main love. FWIW, the photos seem to show that the ex1 MAY have a built in diopter (very nice), though I haven't seen that mentioned in any of the write ups.

Both look GREAT to me :)

essentially one is saving $350-500 by trading the ovf for a state of the art evf plus diopter correction. with the money saved one could buy any of the available primes. i'll take that trade. when i wake up in the middle of the night craving an ovf view i'll pick up my x100...or maybe just fondle my 'free' 35/1.4!
