Any interest in RFF connecting to Social Media?

I deleted my facebook account last Friday, so... No!
Please don't do it... I'm so fed up with facebook, the totally pointless stuff people put on there and the friend requests of people of which you have to think really hard for 2 days before you remember who they are... Then there's the messing around with the privacy policies that make me sick, so again... NO NO NO!!!! Please...

The last thing I want to know when ever any of you guys:

farted
ate something
liked something
feel something
post a duck-face picture of yourself
hooked up with someone
got dumped by someone
thought a link on the internet was cool
wanted to share something "emotional"
post pictures of yourself engaging in lewd behaviour

Having recently been dumped, I saw a cool internet link that showed a foolproof way to hook up with hot chicks. Confident that the duck-faced picture of myself on Facebook would result in a flood of proposals from enamoured, nubile young women, I felt a sudden, almost inexplicable boost in my self esteem (which had been quite battered, due to the aforementioned breakup). Riding this emotional high, I decided to treat myself to my favorite meal -- a sub sandwich, complete with jalepeno pepper slices. Big mistake! The resulting fart in Subway was soooo embarrassing! OMG -- it was way worse that the YouTube video of me and Sasquatch making out at the house party. (We were both drunk. At least I think so ... a Sasquatch is pretty big and can put away a lot of alcohol.) Needless to say, I am closing my Facebook page and am saying "goodbye" to all here at RFF. I need some time to myself.

if anyone wants to know my facebook ID, i will gladly send it via PM. i use fb to keep up with many friends and relatives. if someone posts a status update i don't like, for example, i just hide it. one doesn't have to accept - or keep - fb "friends." it really is easily controlled ...

i use facebook and twitter ... i think most of the people who bash on it are ignorant. just because you use twitter / facebook doesn't mean you have to contribute and tweet about when you farted or show pictures of your big mac.

that being said i'm not really sure twitter / facebook would add value here

It seems to me that there is a wilful misunderstanding over this topic. Do you seriously believe that, for example, IlfordPhoto post when Simon galley farts, or Leica when there is cabbage soup in the canteen?

A location for information concerning gallery-shows of RFF members worldwide, for all the local and regional group-meets, for making sure curious people can more easily realise that rangefinder cameras exist, that film is still manufactured . . . might be worthwhile?

Even on APUG there are threads concerning the best way of spreading information and enthusiasm to people who have not considered such subjects before. The alternative is to leave the RFF future to freak chance - and lomography . . .

RFF demographic adding quite strongly to its stereotypical image of people who don't want to "engage with digital technology" here....😉 Though of course we are using digital technology in this community.

I have repeatedly used RFF as a shining example (in relation to Joe's heart attack) of how a group of online "strangers" can form a meaningful community with real world reach and impact.

I use FB and Twitter regularly, and they can have meaningful communities , but perhaps not as easy to find in the white noise of narcissism...

I've recently found FB pages for the Hexar and OM that are very active and interesting. But generally, I use FB to keep in touch at least superficially with people I already know.

Personally, I would keep RFF how it is, as I like it here.

i use facebook daily...never got into twitter, mostly because i have not put any effort into it.
i love social media...we are social media...when we raise money for a member in need...that's social media and i think it's a wonderful thing.

i just told my facebook friends that i love pumpkin pie! no harm done and most of them already knew that...but it allows me to connect with folks all over the world (my friends) that i rarely get to see anymore.

it's a new world folks with lots of different ways to communicate with each other...when i had my heart attack and dissappeared from rff for a few days, greyhoundman called the local cops who came to my house to check things out...damn that was cool and it would not have happened without this forum...social media.
