I just picked up a Canon 6D last night and decided to do a little comparison between my M6 and the Canon in the "silent shutter" mode.
Pretty incredible really.

Like if a Prius nearly runs you over when you're crossing the street.

That is quite something. Does the Canon silent mode have any effects/limitations on the operation of the camera?

That silent shutter option is amazing. It sound the same on my 5dmk3, I leave that setting 95% of the time.
The drawback is suppose to be a slower focus speed but unless shooting action/sports in continuous mode, I don't see any difference.
If you remove the camera strap and attach the 40mm pancake, it make a quite good non intrusive camera.

That's exactly what I'm thinking about doing!

I think it just slows down the process of taking the photo. After the mirror flips up, it takes a little longer to come back down. I've been keeping it in this mode...doesnt make a difference to me.
