Hi. Wondering if anyone can help -- I just acquired an M6 for a good price with assurance that everything was in fine working condition, only to find that the meter, no matter what exposure I set the camera at, was stuck to its leftward pointing arrow. I see that the white dot is gone gray -- there is a lot dark dust on it and the dark fibers from underneath seem to be showing, as if some of the white laminate has worn away.
My first question is what way best to fix the meter; my second is, can the dot be the problem, and, if so, does that fix require changing the curtain?
Any help much appreciated.

1. Toggle the ISO selector.
2. Try a new battery.
3. Even quite messy looking shutter curtain white dots seem to work.

Don't know about your white dot, but metering problems plagued early M6's. I had one that took two trips to Leica repair to solve a similar problem where the right side arrow stayed lit all the time. I've read a lot of other stories of metering problems.

Thank you. I'll be glad if it's not the dot as I suspect I'd have to replace the shutter curtain ....
