33 years ago, I performed with a theater troupe for children in the elementary school in Newtown, Connecticut. We toured around central New England to many such schools and young audiences. Last night I wondered whether how many of the children in our 1979 audience are among the mourning parents.

Actually, everyone was killed with a long rifle, apparently semiautomatic.
The killer's mother was a gun enthusiast. He used his mother's gun(s) to kill her, then moved on to the school.
I am an hour away from Newtown; my good friend lives there.
Vigils all around here...

Commiserations from Australia. I am reminded of that image of Lincoln at the Memorial, with his head in his hands after the shooting of JFK. Hopefully Obama might be able to do more than that. All the evidence is against anything changing even after this massacre of primary school children. The Australian Prime Minister got rid of semi-automatic and automatic weapons in private hands after our worst shooting in 1996, 35 dead including some children.

What some people don't understand is that the gun did not do the killing it was the person holding the gun. Even if guns were to be outlawed the deranged person would still kill. Just with something different..

Everyone understands that - just as everyone understands that it's easier for the deranged person to actually do it, if you can just pick a few weapons from mum's home arsenal. So what's your point?

22 people at a school in China were cut by a knife wielding idiot on the same day as the tragedy in Connecticut. Crazy people are all around us.

The sad truth is many little ones are now gone and we should respect their memories by not arguing...

Today I went to Acton, Texas to photograph a few of the Confederate soldier graves in the old Acton cemetary. While there I was struck by the number of graves of little ones in the age range as those killed yesterday. The below angel was watching over the grave of a 5 year old girl who had passed away a few years ago. The one I posted earlier was at the grave of a 8 year old..
