My first rangefinder was an Yashica electro 35 GS. I sold this one because I find focussing hard to do. When I saw this good looking GX I have to buy it. I renewed the light seals and with new batteries the under and over exposure lights works well. A new film is in and I am very curious at the result.

Nice one Johan.

Even though I prefer fully manual cameras, my GSN has proven to be a very accomplished picture taker.
I had to replace the light seals as well, and get a battery adapter for it.

I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

GX is a wonderful camera with a very sharp lens. Just make sure not to poke your thumb against the large viewfinder window up front. It's attached with few drops of glue.
 
I used to dream of owning one of those. I never had the opportunity to buy one. *sigh* Maybe one day!
 
You will like it a lot. The GX is considered by many the best fixed lens rangefinder ever made by Yashica. Besides, it is smaller and slightly lighter than the GS, GSN and GT series. It is easier to carry around.
 
Hello! I also bought this beautiful camera with dx 50 flash and leather case. But when I put SR44 1.55V batteries in it metering is off for about 1.3 stops. What kind of batteries you use?
 
I use two 675 zink-air (1.4v) cells with nobby-sparrow adapters, and have no problems with exposures. They don't last any more than a month, but they're cheap enough I don't worry about cost.

I use two LR44 bateries. I have a 2mm anti slide mat (€ 2. =) I cut a strip and pasted to the battery and filled space on the + side on with aluminum foil. How do you measure the deviation of 1.3 stop?

I have a GX too and I use 2 Kanto/ C.R.I.S. HM-N adapters and 2 SR44 batteries very successfully.

Kanto is the maker of these in Japan (I think) and much more helpful/ friendly than the C.R.I.S. people who distribute them in the USA. Actually, the latter were downright rude. You can contact Kanto at info@kanto-cs.co.jp.
 
Well I didnt yet develop my first roll but i was comparing it with digital camera metering for about 10 times and in different light conditions and it was always the same difference. Abot 1.3 stop overexposed with two SR44 and about 1 stop with zinc air 1.4V batteries.

You can't really use the readings from a digital camera to make comparisons, the meters are different. What the center-weighted or matrix meter in a newer camera sees is likely going to be different than what the simple reflected light meter in the Yashica is seeing. The only way to know if the meter is working is to film test it, or compare it side by side with another GX that you know works properly.

If the meter is off, and the camera is over-exposing, check the meter cell in the camera. The plastic element on the meter cell in these cameras can become opaque over time. I am not talking about the clear window on the lens name plate ring, but the meter cell itself. You have to scrape off the deteriorated plastic carefully to clear it up.
 
Thanks for advice i hope that developed film will show good results. I will develop and scan film the day after tomorrow and we will see. I was also thinking about diffferent meters in digital and those like in GX but do you think that could be this much difference? I really hope that this camera works well cause I really like it and they are rare here. I will try to check this plastic on cell too
