Maxxum 9 for Christmas?

After getting a Nikon F3, that is the camera I am going to add to my collection, just for its 1/12000th top speed!

I use only first generation Minolta primes on my A900: 20/2.8, 35/2, 50/1.4, 50/2.8 (Macro), 100/2, Minolta 5600 flash...works like a charm and resolution wise, the Minoltas could move even more pixels than the 24something the A900 provides.

The 1/12000 is pretty much useless. There is a reciprocity error with film with speeds above 1/10000 (or below one second) which means that if you select 1/12000 you're facing underexposure. Anyway, the difference between 1/8000 and 1/12000 is only half a stop.
I have a 9xi and i absolutely love the camera but the top speed is useless. I've never needed it. Having said that, in order to achieve this top speed, the shutter blades are made from ultra-light carbon-fibre reinforced epoxy material. This means that the vibrations and re-bouncing effects are much reduced...

In reference to the Dynax 9 upgrade, the camera needed to be hand delivered to the tech in Germany!

My 9 works fine with the 135 f1.8 Sonnar and has never been upgraded. I'm led to believe that the last Dynax 9's had the upgrade from the factory.

I also have the a900 and it really is a digital Dynax 9 right down to the rubber eye piece, the a900 just focuses faster!
The Zeiss Sonnar 135/1.8 is a screw driven lens, it functions on all Minolta AF cameras way back to the original 7000. Try a SSM or SAM lens to know if it works.... Mine didn't 🙁

Ended up missing out on the 9. It seems like I have become so fond of small rangefinder type cameras that I sat on the fence too long this time around. Lot's of love for the 9 it would seem.
