When I used to rock climb, I wore lycra shorts. Is that what you wear to work?
BTW, with good high iso, you don't need to go outside to shoot. You could do a reportage of your lab.
 
I used to climb with jeans..??? didnt know you needed special clothing for it.. 🙂
Its been about 7 years since Ive done anything, really thinking about going back to the gym, getting my fingers strong again..

After decades, physics labs are really boring unless you are doing something dangerous. I have a boring job, and I basically work with people who lack any personality.

I got lots of Lycra at home. Use to race mountain bikes and road race. Even shaved my legs, but I did not take steroids like Lance. Back in the day, I was kinda known as a wack job on a bike, and I spent lots of time biking with the hard bodied Wall Street crowd in the Hamptons every weekend. Back then I had the dirt-bag mobile (a 1965 Ford Falcon with no floor on the passenger side, people use to laugh that the bike rack was worth more than the car, and then I had a tricked out titanium racing bike). Anyways back then at one time I had 5 cars, about half of them were not running. LOL.

Back when I worked at National Labs (Los Alamos and Brookhaven) I wore shorts and steel toed shoes (required). Back at Grumman I wore sand-L's with no socks.

Wish I had the Monochrome for this Sunday. I'll be at a runway show for small boutique designers with "Maggie" my gal. This event is part of Fashion Week. Check out the other thread I started.

Phil,

The razzle-dazzle I was referring to was used in WWII on U.S. navel ships. The concept was to break down the visual outline by creating hard edged patches that were smaller to confuse the enemy.

IMHO this visual trick kinda made our ships stand out more in a way, but I guess the concept was to break up a large object into smaller parts visually to make it less visible.

Anyways pretty hard to hide large battle groups and huge convoys during the day without fog.

It was actually WWI, and the idea I think was that since they couldn't effectively hide, nor outrun enemy torpedo ships that they should disorient them. By using optical illusions like converging lines it would be hard for torpedo commanders to determine the direction and speed that the ship was moving, and would miss-direct the torpedo. It apparently worked quite well.

I didn't think many submarines were used back in WWI although there was a submarine that was used in the Civil War. Back then in WWII the big secrete weapon was a project code named "water tank."

It seems that all the German trenches were dug to precise exact sizes and the British figured this out and designed what to day would be later known as a tank. Basically it was an armoured vehicle that was deigned to straddle German trenches armed with sideways shooting machine guns. WWI was still mostly trench warfare and aviation was biplanes and German triplanes.

Although Robert Fulton came up with the idea of a submarine I think in the 1800's, and Jules Verne wrote about a submarine called the Nautilas, it wasn't until WWII that they effectively were in use. In fact German U-Boats sunk quite a few ships not far from New York Harbor. Pretty sure that Razzle Dazzle was used in WWII.

EDIT: It seems Razzle Dazzle was first developed to confuse the enemy in WWI to "disrupt visual rangefinders used in naval artillery," but it was also used in WWII when submarines and torpedoes were in use. Picasso says it was invented by the "Cubists." LOL.

My tactic was a loud old fashioned hippy tie died bicycle shirt. A very effective disguise. Like Bin Ladin I was hiding in pain sight. This shirt is very-very loud.

Then there is my TTL tactic when shooting at night. I own the most powerful dedicated flash for the camera affectionately nick-named "Son Of Godzilla" because John calls most of my cameras monsters. On fashion night out I simply blinded my subject with a burst of light up and down and along Fifth Avenue.
