Any suggestions on this? The GR series seems decent. Am I missing one? I'm looking for something that can do very close, in your face close-up shots. Just to be clear I'm talking about fim cameras with iso control too.

thank ya kindly,

db

Hexar AF.

DB, I don't think the GR1 allows ISO control like you're used to with the GRD--it's up to your post-processing desires/skills to compensate there. But you can get close (not a face, just a nail, but F2.8 @ 6-8 inches distance):

That is what I'm looking for.

The GRD has spoiled me I guess. Something like that.

Thanks,

Film compacts aren't best in this genre. 30-35cm for 35mm lens count as "macro" so digital wins here clearly. If you insist on film compact, there are some models with close-up and tele attachments available, like Ricoh FF-70/90, some others too.

Olympus XA4 goes to 14" or so. Great camera, great lens, not very rugged, not cheap, not common (only made for a year).

Contax t3, smaller than a GR, 0.35 meters to infinity and its a 35mm lens, little to no noticeable distortion. Great focus too! Wish I owned one 🙁
