Any suggestions on this? The GR series seems decent. Am I missing one? I'm looking for something that can do very close, in your face close-up shots. Just to be clear I'm talking about fim cameras with iso control too.

thank ya kindly,

db

Hexar AF.

The message you have entered is too short. Please lengthen your message to at least 10 characters.

I have a Hexar AF and have loved it for going on 10 years now. I'm looking for more compact and closer min focus distance.

DB, I don't think the GR1 allows ISO control like you're used to with the GRD--it's up to your post-processing desires/skills to compensate there. But you can get close (not a face, just a nail, but F2.8 @ 6-8 inches distance):

That is what I'm looking for.

The GRD has spoiled me I guess. Something like that.

Thanks,

Film compacts aren't best in this genre. 30-35cm for 35mm lens count as "macro" so digital wins here clearly. If you insist on film compact, there are some models with close-up and tele attachments available, like Ricoh FF-70/90, some others too.

You can always re-code dx cassettes to set iso as you like. I do this for my Olympus compact cameras and they also get pretty close.

Olympus XA4 goes to 14" or so. Great camera, great lens, not very rugged, not cheap, not common (only made for a year).

Contax t3, smaller than a GR, 0.35 meters to infinity and its a 35mm lens, little to no noticeable distortion. Great focus too! Wish I owned one :(
