Harman TiTAN 8x10 news

Cool, thanks for sharing :)

I like the idea of the 8x10, given the possibility of exposing directly onto paper. Very interesting camera alright, and glad its finally closer to being released.

Freestyle has 8x10 Arista.edu Ultra 100 for $2.65/sheet for a box of 50.

Granted, the same deal for 4x5 comes in at $0.66 per sheet, so I take your meaning.

This camera looks really interesting to me.

For Black & White 10x8 I develop in a 10x8 Paterson Orbital Processor on a Motorised Base. Link this with one shot Rodinol and you only use 300mm of Dilute Developer at 1 to 25 = 12 mm of Rodinol per sheet. Forum Member Roger Hicks put me on to this and he has full details on his website. The only down side is tracking down the Orbital Processors as they have become rare and sought after on Auction Sites fetching £80 UK. See one cheap, buy it. They are also good for 7x5 and 5x4, not good for colour and need revised agitation practice for Pyro type developers as constant agitation stops the Tanning Process from working as I understand it.

FWIW shooting 8x10 can be easy on the wallet. 8x10 B/W Green or Blue sensitive X-ray film is about 40 cents a sheet, 1/10th the price of regular sheet film and fits Lisco and Kodak film holders. Users rate the ISO anywhere between 80 and 200. Aside from price, the main differences are that x-ray film is orthochromatic (it can be developed by inspection under a red safelight) and the sheet is coated with emulsion on both sides. Tray developing without scratches and streaks is tricky but the massive cost savings is worth the extra effort. Other minor differences include rounded corners and no notches. Some people strip the emulsion off one side with household bleach after the film has been processed and dried.

Green X-ray film rated 200 ISO developed in TD-201. I'm still fighting scratches and streaks. Not a pinhole pic though.
Btw I was introduced to TD-201 by Tom A here. It's a really good developer for difficult lighting.

It would be a bit cheaper shooting Harman Direct Positive prints in this camera, since the cost of film and print paper is combined into one product. The overall process is quicker, too. Although, exposure times using Harman DPP with pinhole can get multi-minutes long.

As for the design of the camera, the video suggests that the tripod mounting plates are a bit small, meaning that the camera could easily shake in the wind.

Also, one feature it lacks that my homemade box cameras have are viewing lines or dots, as an aid in composition. I suppose the tapered design of the camera body precludes these.

With all of the homemade pinhole cameras I'm not using, I couldn't justify purchasing this camera, but I applaud Ilford for marketing the product.

Hey everyone. I see Freestyle is now listing this big bad boy.

I have a half dozen two sided holders but no camera. This may end up in a christmas stocking (or rather gunny sack :p )
