I agree, please make a default view (ideally on the homepage like the old rff) of all latest forum activity

Please add my voice to those requesting the old system showing all the latest forum activity. I don't think this is a case of all of us not being used to the new setup--it's just that the old way actually *worked* really well, there really wasn't any need to change it as it was so useful and convenient setup that way.
I've got to say I'm not really liking the design, either. I *may* get used to that, but honestly the old version just *looked* far better--it was simple and classy, whereas this color scheme is garish and shouty, and there's far too much wasted space. I understand that with changes in technology, changes under the hood *have* to come; but changing the *look* of things to "refresh" the site really isn't always the best way to go, if the older design was superior. And in RFF's case, it was.
That happened with me, too, when photo.net got its makeover. I'm somewhat more used to its current layout, after a few years--but I *still* think the old version looked way better, and was actually vastly superior to the *improved* site.

I also miss the old list of recent posts from the old homepage.
The one thing, I liked most about it, was that I often found interesting topics this way just by accident. If I search myself in the sub-sections for latest topics, I only find, what I‘m specifically looking for and start to live in an information-bubble.
The old list of just every new post in any section or topic broadens my horizon, I find new and interesting things I never thought would interest me, or which I just did not know about. This was one of the biggest values here: open minds and broad interests. Thats gone now… I miss it.

it works;
even though it's a bit slow due to the searching i guess.
thanks.

As I have mentioned in another thread you can use the following address that directs you to the place @raydm mentioned.

To be honest, I am lost and feel a loss of sense of community. The new site structure is very disorienting and difficult to figure out the structure. Perhaps as others have said, I will get used to it but it's a real struggle. On the old RFF, the site design took backstage to content. It's opposite here. I will keep on trying as RFF is my predominant photo forum home.

It doesn't work though, as it still filters out any threads you've already seen and only shows 'new' threads. To see what I mean, go to the link, click on the first entry, then reload the link. The entry you clicked on will have disappeared from the search results.
That was the point of my OP.

You can use the following to include all of them but it takes a bit longer to load:
https://www.rangefinderforum.com/sea...%7D&btnSubmit=
That is what most people expect at the landing page and should be the default without taking so much time IMO

I guess I'm not the only one who misses the old format of latest posts listed chronologically from newest.
Also when using the dark color scheme which I prefer some quoted text becomes invisible.
A work in progress I guess...

So....is the landing page as we like it now? I sure did click with that format.

To Light & Love ...
I am really trying to 'like' this new RFF
More work to navigate, less Joy to use
'Photos' posted seem a tad strange looking, somehow lost their Magic, look less vibrant, alive.
it is faster, that's a good thing
as they say: Change is good
ahh to the days of old

I think a lot of work has been done over the last few days to resemble the old interface and my view is that it is moving to the right direction. I think we will see more change over the next few weeks as they try to implement the suggestions people make.

Please....I would *love* to go straight into the forum, have access to all unread posts and be able to to mark all unread posts as read. This seems to be impossible atm. Any help gratefully appreciated!

It is certainly better, but it looks like what it is doing is showing recent posts, not recent threads. The difference is now that traffic has picked up there are multiple posts from the same thread showing up on the landing page. Personally, I'd rather that be a thread view which is how the old forum displayed them.

Totally agree with Helen. I'm not enjoying the experience.

There's so much white space scrolling though threads, such as here. Why not get rid of the Facebook and Twitter share buttons under the member name panel so that short posts don't take up so much space. If the buttons must be there why not put them under the line, next to the quote, flag and like buttons.
Anything to reduce the endless scrolling this design requires.

I'm in the 'Helen camp' here as well. It feels like too much work to find my way around the site at the moment. But hopefully there are elves in the background designing improvements. The thing I noticed immediately was that there's no index of forum topics down the side of the home page. I LOVED that feature of the old site. I typically come to the site looking for information on topics not usually being discussed in "trending" topics. The old index gave me a way to easily find my way to the information I'm looking for. At this moment, I have no idea how to do that now. I hope the Search feature isn't the only path... that'll give me a ton of stuff I'm NOT looking for! AND... (political rant)... do we really want to be tethered to Facebook and Twitter in this era of social media swampiness?

AND... I get the feeling that all the old gallery photos are gone. Correct? That would be a shame... there was a lot of viewing pleasure to be had in those archives. And what happened to all of the classified ads that existed at the moment of changeover?
