Canon 100mm 3.5 with Leica M10

I dug out this lens from my camera closet, and I used it for some snapshots locally in Pensacola. The 100mm 3.5 is a tiny lens that is known for high sharpness. Brain S cautioned us from such lenses having damaged glass. My lens looks "OK" to my eyes. Does it have some internal haze? I need to worry about this later.

I have this lens, but I don't think I have ever used it 😱 I meant to several times, but....
Mine looks really nice and pristine, inside and out, so I appreciate the motivation here to put it on a body and shoot with it. How much smaller is the image compared to the 90mm framelines? Hopefully its just a tad smaller and I can just compose with the 90 lines and think "tighter".

90mm and 100mm are not that much different. I would get the lens and start using it.

I have the Canon FL version of this lens, my lens looks brand new and the glass is clean & clear...and as mentioned super sharp...

Both the FL and FD lenses can be excellent overall. I have FD lenses from 7.5mm to 500mm.

Raid I especially like the red car photo with extra contrast and saturation added. It has a nice Kodachrome feel to it. BTW I have two versions of the Canon lens - the black and chrome one and the all black one. The latter one has a little "Canon fog" but both still perform in an exemplary manner though the fogged one needs a little care as regards back lighting.

I got one for a couple hundred bucks that was very hazy, took it apart and cleaned the glass with alcohol and put it back together and not only did it work, it was a very sharp lens. I sort of wish I hadn't cleaned it as the hazy image was rather interesting. Eventually I sold it.

I have enough lenses to keep them as they are. I may have paid $120~$160 for my lens.

I got lucky with a perfectly clean black and chrome version. I love this lens and it's so handy size wise. Focus to 1m is convenient too (some of the older teles only go to 4-5 ft). IIRC I sold a hazy version of this lens in the classifieds for $50 a couple months ago

I don't know why this lens is so underappreciated. It is a stellar performer, and very inexpensive. I purchased my current copy for under $50.

I think the reason is (in general) longish lenses on a rangefinder are an acquired taste. And Canon is always the underdog, especially in this underdog focal length. It took me a long while to warm up to them. Now I'm enjoying the Canon 100, as well as the Komura 135/2.8 and Topcon 90/3.5. Better late than never

The most popular lenses have been 35mm~50mm over the years. 21mm lenses then got some extra popularity.
