Fascinating look into making a Barnack. More respect for these cameras/lenses and to the efforts of the men and women that went into designing and making them.

At the 6:00 mark it appears that a lady is inspecting prisms that would be used in binoculars. Was Leitz making binoculars during this time period?

They may have been for Leitz microscope production I am guessing. But I think they were making binoculars during and before the war period so they may perhaps be for those as well.

Their microscopes are also amazing constructions: the machining, finishing, and operation; just exquisite.
 
There are a couple of earlier films with Leica I assembly and casting microscope stands. I can't find them but maybe Erik has a link?

Lovely homage to the video Erik. Makes one wonder if someone in that film worked on your camera or lens.

How lucky we are to still have many examples of these beautiful machines around.
 
I've now found them on my back up drive but don't know how to get them up here, they are MPG files, too big to load as attachments.
