ah, Is that my M4 ?
which You do not want to sell back to me
You don't use it for shooting , just camera porn
Sadly You don't even shoot a roll of Film with Miss M4
and this Gorgeous New Nokton... show us the Beauty of f1
but I get it, it's just the 'Business' man in you & the collector
Do think Miss M4 deserves a better home with a resl shooter ...

I for one sincerely appreciate the Head Bartender posting these pictures. Call it camera porn, call it whatever you want, I like it. I still have my Voigtländer VM/E Close Focus Adapter and the Nokton f1.0 is mighty tempting. If I get a tax return (not likely) the Voigtländer 50mm F1.0 Nokton could be my next purchase. Spring is just around the corner and a really fast fifty would be perfect for when that happens!
I regret selling my Voigtländer 50mm f1.1. Maybe this lens will be a suitable replacement - or a superior replacement!
All the best,
Mike

Hi Helen!
I'm very familiar with the term "camera porn" I have often posted in the Bessa porn thread. Example:
It's all good, take care, peace be with you.

Trying to convince myself why I really "need" this lens even though I'm not much of a 50mm shooter anymore. Ha, ha, maybe we all need to try a super fast 50 once in our lives. Hmm, probably should've kept the M3.
All I can add is
"Greetings, Your 50mm f1.0 will ship to you Monday Jan 31."
This is going to be a great week for lenses. The other super-speed lens arriving is 90 years old.

Personally, instead of pics of the lens (we already know what it looks like), I'd rather see sample images.

I did not receive such an email, Brian.
I ordered mine as soon as Stephen started taking them. Coincided with a bonus from work.
I suspect these sold out faster than the Elvis concert I went to in '74.

I signed up quickly for a deposit only and not the full order, which I then did when Stephen emailed me about it.
The Nokton 50/1.0 arrived, just enough time to check focus on my M Monochrom- and it is perfect. This lens smooth as butter, and looks sharp.
Hoping for some good weather this weekend- my 1932 5cm F1.5 Sonnar also arrived.
Two Super-Speed lenses, both are in the first 100 made for each type.
The front element on the Nokton has a curve to it, like the Canon 50/1.2. I'm going to be careful fitting filters- those with glass flat against the rear of the threads might be an issue. Filters with glass in the middle, like those with a retaining ring from the rear- should be fine. I've just eye-balled this so far. The hood is nice, bayonet type. The Tiffen Hot Mirror filter and UV filters will work fine. The M9 and M Monochrom have a strong UV response, and require a filter. And of course the M Monochrom- I use a lot of filters.
Update: The Tiffen filters do not hit the front element when screwed in: it is close. I convinced myself by putting a drop of lens cleaning fluid on the center of the filter and screwing it in. The edge of the drop just close enough to evaporate and condense to the lens, but not actually spread to it. I would not use a Nikon L37c filter without making an extension. The Nikon glass sits closer to the rear of the filters than does the Tiffen. I have several Tiffen Hot Mirror filters and UV17 filters from early Digital days.

An update on filters: I repeated this test with a Nikon L37c, which has glass closer to the back of the filter than does the Tiffen, The drop of cleaning fluid hit the surface of the lens before screwing in completely. The Tiffen uses a retaining ring screwed in from the front, the Nikon uses a spring type from the rear. I'll probably exchange glass to have a multi-coated UV filter that is safe to use. On the Tiffen- you can also move the glass out by putting a ring under the glass.

Well, today I picked up a used 50mm f1.0 Nokton VM lens for what I considered a good price. It's in such minty fresh condition that if I was told it was new I would have believed it. Came with the box, papers, everything; a complete like new total package.
I wasn't actively looking for this lens, things just sort of happened unexpectedly and now I have it.
I'm excited to take it out for a spin and see what I can create!
All the best,
Mike
