New lenses from Voigtlander - 40mm F2.8 M & LTM, 35/1.2 Z

Strongly second this proposal. All others in favor say aye. How about click stops on the 28/3.5 for hyper focal distances plus the focusing stick (like the Snapshot Skopar 25/4)? I’d even settle for an LTM 35/2.5, which is a great little lens. I would buy all of these things, especially if there are accompanying external viewfinders.

That might just be enough to tempt me to shoot 35mm lenses again.

I'd quite like some of the newer 50mm lenses in LTM. I'm sure it's impossible/improbable for many reasons, but one of those 50mm f/1.0 lenses in LTM? DAMN, yes. Shut up and take my money.

That Heliar 50/1.5 should have been LTM all along.

+1!! Having a 40mm lens to use on both an M- and LTM camera would be sweet. And I have a black paint IIIc that “needs” this lens… ;-))

Cosina/Voigtlander made a black metal 40mm Viewfinder for use with the NOKTON 40mm F1.2 lens from 2017 to 2019.
I have one and it is very nice. There must still be some floating around out there somewhere.

Modern lenses designed for M mount are specifically geared for Leica M bodies, which have extremely thin cover glass on the sensor. Differences in sensor filter stack thickness are what cause issues with M mount lenses on mirrorless bodies, particularly Sony A7. The Nikon Z has a thinner filter stack but is still not optimal. Canon EOS R isn't very good, either.

M mount lenses on Panasonic S cameras like the S1 and S5 perform very well in the centre, but not so good in the corners and edges, particularly with M mount lenses designed in the film era. My Nokton 35mm f1.4, for example, has really strange highlight doubling in the edges on the Panasonic S5 which is not present on the M9.

The only L mount cameras that do well with M mount lenses in general are the SL range, as they have microlenses intended to help reduce vignetting and corner smearing in M mount lenses. But even the SL cameras are not optimal for M mount lenses. Voigtlander have taken M mount designs and optimized them for Sony A7 and the difference is very noticeable when compared with the M mount counterparts. So if Voigtlander optimized some M mount designs for L mount, it would make a lot of Panasonic S owners very happy.

Wrong L mount.

Voigtlander are confusingly using the term "L mount" to refer to the LTM screwmount, which means this lens will behave no differently on digital than an M mount lens.

My original comment was about L mount alliance cameras and the desire for Voigtlander to make L mount versions of their M mount lenses. I answered the question in that context, so if I was mistaken about that, there we go.

You can easily take an Adapter form M to L and use the M-Verision.
Leica SL/CL Users do it this way since years!
 
Is this lens still coming out this month? I haven’t seen any info on pricing or preorders as with other new releases.

If that's real and if both versions, M-mount or LTM-mount, have no rangefinder coupling inside, they would be useless for my photography with Leica-M and Barnack-M39, where I need a good distance metering.
 
Same here, they look great. If they come out with a 40mm viewfinder, I'm in. But the cost of the used 40mm viewfinders right now is crazy.
