New lenses from Voigtlander - 40mm F2.8 M & LTM, 35/1.2 Z

Stephen's got pre-orders up FYI - put mine in for a black paint LTM. This will be my first new lens ever! Everything else I have bought second hand.

I am not planning on using an external finder for mine, just the IIIC built in finder. Will see how it goes. I also have a Tewe zoom finder which as someone else stated could be set in between 35 and 50, good idea.

I’m really hoping that this is the start of releasing the new designs (35 Ultron, 50 Nokton 1.5, 90 Skopar) in LTM. It would be nice to have a full set of modern lenses for my old Barnacks.

I think the main allure for this 40mm heliar lens is getting it in LTM. There aren’t a lot of black paint LTM lenses in focal lengths shorter than 50mm. Plus having it black paint over brass is a plus, I am not aware of anything else that meets that criteria aside from getting something repainted. There is that 28mm voigtlander I guess, but that’s quite a bit wider.

In the UK the 40mm f2.8 aspherical is £469, £18 cheaper than the f1.4!

If they included an external viewfinder with the LTM version for that price I'd bite their hands off for it. As it stands... I'm not so sure I'll be rushing to the shops tomorrow.

I use Canon ltm lenses such as the 35/1.5’or 35/1.8 or 35/2 or 35/2.8.
CV has wonderful 50mm lenses.

Still tossing up the idea of getting the 40mm ltm heliar on my fp or the gr3x as my EDC.

I hope voigtlander continue s making compact lenses.

Anyone receive the 40/2.8 yet? Any initial impressions? (Fishing for a final push to buy one)

Just shipped yesterday. Should arrive Friday. Stephen had some new pictures up, looks great on a black III.

I agree with the desire for a finder, but I'm not sure about its coming. Until there is a 40mm viewfinder, I think I'll use a black 35mm viewfinder: SBOOI (I have an original one in black paint) or the black Nikon 35mm. I can also use my black WEISU, but I prefer a brightline finder.
Hopefully the lens arrives soon; I ordered my copy via my local Voigtländer dealer. I had to convince them about the existence of the lens, they could not believe that Voigtländer in 2022 would make a lens for LTM!

Erik.
