My TLR needs a little TLC. Some uneven winding action. A little stray flare. An unresponsive self time. Maybe even a screen upgrade (Is Mark Hama still doing his?)

I've lost touch of who's active and who's retired. Any suggestions?

I have heard good things about this guy:

Maxwell Precision Optics in Georgia (Bill Maxwell) makes some of the best focusing screens but is phasing out of the business. Last I checked he still has Rolleiflex TLR screens available but I'd suggest you act on it sooner than later.

I had a great experience with Dan Daniels last year. He CLA’d my Rollei E2. Excellent work, fair price, prompt service. He’s in NY. dan.daniel.cameras@gmail.com
And a forum member, too, if I'm not mistaken (though not sure if he's made his way to the new RFF). Here's a link to his website:

In Massachusetts:

Rolleiflex TLR cameras

Shutter Overhaul service (includes self timer) $150.00
Full Service including shutter service, focus mechanism clean and lubricate ($100), advance mechanism clean and lubricate ($100), and general cleaning $350.00
Cameras that are defective, damaged, or of unknown condition will be inspected at a cost of $35.00 to determine the problem/cost. If you decide to go ahead with service, the 25.00 fee will be waived.

Thanks. Never heard of them. Any first hand experience?
I have not, but he posts on Photorio occasionally and has an eBay presence.

This person had good results with a repair:
The camera was CLA’d just before I bought it a year ago by Barn Owl Cameras in Massachusetts. They did an excellent job. It has functioned perfectly for me.

And another anecdotal positive review:

Here's a posting I did on the old RFF. Not sure the link works:
Cost Effective CLA for hasselblad Film Back?

Rob, I don't have any experience with this gentleman (JIm Kilroy) but I bookmarked his site from another forum a while back in case I got back into Hasselblads. Plus, he is located in my state (western Massachusetts) and has an eBay presence.

Barn Owl Cameras (Film Camera Repair and services. Specializing in Rolleiflex and Hasselblad):

Basic back service. A12, 16, 24 etc. C12, 16, 24 etc. $110.00

He was recently positively referenced in this thread:

...and some of his postings (his comments in the Hasselblad Jig thread are very interesting): https://www.photrio.com/forum/search/155816/

Hope this helps a little.

I can also vouch for Jim Kilroy -- super customer service, top-notch work, fair prices. He is my go-to Hasselblad fellow, and I'm confident he does equally as good work on Rolleis.

Do me a favour though -- don't send anything to him yet. I just shipped off a couple of lenses to him :)

I will have to check him out -- I'm in CT. (I was going to say "Hoo is he?" but thought that would earn me a lifetime ban....)

Taking my Rolleiflex to Zion next week, and then it's birthday season in my family, but he better be done with your lenses by mid March! ;)
