Thanh Da, Saigon. Fuji X-H1 - XF 2.8/16-55 @ 30mm. In less than one month, I found two discarded bears in the same neighborhood...

^^ Welcome back and glad you had a safe flight. I will be back in Phnom Penh for 21 days soon in the Spring - hopefully stretch out and see a bit more.

Brings back old memories, Do you ever get out by Phu Lam that's where I was stationed it was a old French base and after we left the local NVA took it over. It was a small comm center...

agfa100, I know the area very well. It is now a public park enveloped by the ever-expanding city. I never knew that there was a US comms center there. These two links have footage of Phu Lam in the late sixties: "Brotherhood of Phu Lam", and 68-69 Long Lines Phu Lam - Charles Pierce.mpg Cheers, OtL
Yes, I was their from Jan 69 to Jul 14 70. I thought Viet-Nam was great I had just come from growing up in the Middle East for 10 years. Turkey 4 years, Beirut 1 year, Damascus 1 year and then Tehran 4 years, 1 year back in the States and then off to Viet Nam.

Some photos of HCMC (Saigon) from a trip in January 2023. All these were shot with w/an Olympus Pen-F (digital) and Carl Zeiss 50/2 Planar m-mount. The girls on the motor scooter were shot from a moving taxi as a traffic light changed. So a little out of focus.

Lots of fun pictures. Haven't been in Saigon/Ho Chi Minh City since 2002 when we were there to adopt our son but seeing these bring the sounds and smells and sights back in my memory. I have to try and find some of the photos I took then.

Thank you folks. Hopefully things are going well there.

Please share; it was a very different city then. Cheers, OtL
