Thank you @largedrink. No camera or lens. Full disclosure: these were AI generated using prompts I designed. It's an area I'm exploring more. I probably should have tagged them as such when posting.I agree, lovely and the first shot is amazing. What was your camera & lens combination?

Ah I see, so in fact they're not photographs.Thank you @largedrink. No camera or lens. Full disclosure: these were AI generated using prompts I designed. It's an area I'm exploring more. I probably should have tagged them as such when posting.

It's a good question. I don't know how they should be classified. I asked the tool to specifically generate B&W photographs based on prompts I wrote.Ah I see, so in fact they're not photographs.

Took this on a recent trip "down South". I didn’t get a lot of time for photography on this trip unfortunately.

As far as I know, you're the first on RFF to post AI-generated images, but I expect there will soon be others. Perhaps we should have a separate thread or forum specifically for such images. They raise some really fundamental questions about the medium that will eventually be too big to be ignored. Any thoughts? It's a good question. I don't know how they should be classified. They are generated "images" but are not "photographs". A photograph is recorded by exposing a photosensitive surface to light. There could be a separate thread, but to me AI-generated images is a completely different genre unrelated to rangefinders or cameras and photography. As far as I know, you're the first on RFF to post AI-generated images, but I expect there will soon be others. Things start to get murky when AI is used to capture an actual photograph. And I can imagine a time in the near future when we'll be dealing with AI users, logging onto rff and participating in forum threads. Scary.

I'm essentially in agreement, but I'm very hesitant to call for exclusion from the forum. This whole question will only get more complex, and there needs to be reasoned discussion about AI's place here. But I'm afraid I may have just hijacked the thread; my apologies! They are generated "images" but are not "photographs". A photograph is recorded by exposing a photosensitive surface to light. Yes I agree with the above comments. Those thoughts were in the back of my mind - especially the ethics of AI generated imagery and where does sharing that belong (if at all on a photography forum). AI is here in many dimensions - espeically in the professional world - (you should see the discussions on LinkedIn).
I think a sub-forum for discussion/exploration (maybe in: Image Processing: Darkroom / Lightroom / Film area) at least for - tools, philosophy, ethics, sharing etc. could be started. I would like to explore this are more but don't want to intrude on non-dedicated threads. There is an AI cross-over already with some of the more conventional photographic tools we use; iPhones for example and film simulation processing among others.
