There is 85 page thread with nealy 1700 posts over on the Leica Forum about M11 freezing and software problems, so I am sure this is only an isolated issue.
The CTL-ALT part is pretty difficult with the left paw; I'm impressed.I was using my DOS computer years ago with the Cat sitting in my lap. He wanted more attention, reached over and hit CTL-ALT-DEL.
I don't care one way or the other whether you accept my 'anecdotal evidence' or agree with my opinion. I know I'm speaking the truth when it comes to my 'anecdotal evidence', and not just mouthing something I 'read on a forum on the internet', and that's all that matters to me.Why should we accept your anecdotal evidence and extrapolate it to the norm but not accept splitimageview's anecdotal information and extrapolate it to the norm? And repetition? Half the posts on RFF are from Leica owners extolling their virtues. It gets nauseating after a while. We get it. You love your Leica. Is that the only viewpoint allowed?
Those problems sound pretty darned broken.
The two issues that annoy me are occasional locks (have to TAKE OUT THE BATTERY to resolve) on M240, 246, M10, and now (I have not seen, but heard M11; and the annoying "UUID failure" that causes the camera(s) to re-use supposed-to-be-unique-per-exposure IDs, which then cause mis-indexing in Lightroom and Bridge catalogs/caches.
The fact that these issues have persisted across models is... surprising.
Have never had this issue in 10+ years of using my M9 and M10-P

Cat's hate moving to a new house. 30 years ago when we moved to a bigger house, "Felix" jumped into my '90 TBird and grabbed the wheel. Funny part was the younger cat "Ernie" jumping into the back seat, expecting to be driven home. Felix could not reach the gas pedal. Smartest cat I've ever seen. The CTL-ALT part is pretty difficult with the left paw; I'm impressed.
Well even if they have a local office like they do in the US, many seemingly minor issues require shipment back to Wetlzar. That's a good way to extend repair times. 😛This brings us to the ultimate question: why has Leica not decentralized its service and warranty business? I am currently in Canada where there is no Leica service available. I also spend a good amount of time in Vietnam where Leica has two boutique stores, neither of which can service anything. The Leica 'regional store' in Singapore offers the most basic repairs, only. It can't be all that hard to train and supervise repair technicians in a select number of countries or regions. Cheers, OtL
CTL-C stopped a program from running when it was using a system service for I/O- same as DOS, it was like a warm restart. I used a Xerox 820-II for processing Landsat-4 imagery, and interfaced with realtime hardware. My Xerox had a reset switch for a reboot. Z80 Mode 2 Interrupts were really cool. I rewrote the Library from the Fortran compiler to speed up multiply and divide.I was using my CP/M computer years ago. I didn't have a cat. I could reboot the computer by pressing Ctrl-C.
You do understand that my statements and opinion are just as valid as splitimageview's, that's all, and if you don't accept mine, don't accept his 'anecdotal evidence' either.
Once upon a time Leica had an internship program designed to support a network of trained technicians. Don Goldberg ("DAG") was among them. The wax seal at the 12 O'clock screw position was replaced with a new seal containing the technicians number (IIRC, DAG's was '92') upon being serviced. In the early 1980s Leica abandoned the tech network in favor of service being performed at a hand-full of Leica service centers throughout the world. The number of service centers has only gotten smaller over the years. This brings us to the ultimate question: why has Leica not decentralized its service and warranty business?
