They are prone to sticky back syndrome but other than them at they are quite a nice lightweight little camera. No meter with manual focus lenses, only downside, but this isn’t a big deal since the viewfinder is set up for AF anyway.
One of the best bargains today, I suppose the plastic exterior may be the reason…but it’s the same body that was used in the D100 so it’s well built.

Went to the 90 instead but I understand them to be good. A bit of rubbing alcohol will deal with the sticky back 👍

Yeah, the F90 has the same sticky back issue. But unlike the F80, the F90 is a beast, actually a pro cam. Alcohol will take care of the sticky back 👍

Also picked up an N80 body back in Jan for the same price, had the sticky back and eventually the film door plastic broke on mine (which seems to be a common issue). There is a seller online that sells a metal fix for it

If you lift the latch when you close the back the plastic lasts a lot longer too.

The Praktica MTL5 is my M42 camera for everyday use. I like its simplicity and the bright viewfinder. It is superior compared to the viewfinder of the Asahi Pentax Spotmatic, especially at f4.
However, since I own the Canon 7s I use the SLR less than before. The rangefinder is more joy to use for me.

For this amount of money you did very well. The stickiness goes away when wiped with pre-injection swabs.
The real problem with them is that the plastic back latch breaks very easily when it deteriorates and you cannot close the back (like the F100).
I had them both and to me the F90x is a superior camera in all respects except ergonomics.
I prefer the smaller and much lighter F80. The F90 has a larger viewfinder and if weight doesn’t matter it’s a better camera.
The F80 is a great hiking camera with a small prime. so light, and so inexpensive if damaged, just get another.

Dear Kshapero,
I have one I picked up for cheap when it was marked as "sticky." And it was very sticky, like tar almost. A little clean-up with scent-free hand sanitizer gel and it's in great shape now. I use it occasionally. I like it because being a film camera you cannot crank up the ISO in lower light and it can use Nikon mount AF lenses that have VR. The N65 also works with VR lenses, but except for those 2 you need to move up to an F100, F5 or F6 with film. I have about $ 40.00 total including shipping in my N80 and N65. I'd like to find a battery grip for the N80, but they always seem to go for much more money than the cameras. It would be an advantage for me with a grip because I like to use a Nikon 200-500mm for nature and wildlife.

It’s heavy for a walkabout camera, but my F4 and 20-35mm f/2.8 get a lot of use when I want to get film shots of my kiddo on the move.
