Just got this back from cleaning and a tuneup. It’s a Bulova Spaceview Accutron from 1967. The Accutron was pre quartz and used a tuning fork vibrating at 360 cycles per second to regulate the movement. Place the watch up to your ear and you can hear the tuning fork.

This one was a 50th birthday gift from my wife 25 years ago. I have two more out for cleaning. One is a 1966 stainless with stainless face and was a graduation Gift in 1966. The second is a 1970 Spaceview that’s in a more square brushed stainless case.

The second images shows the battery cover and key for setting the time.

The accuracy on these are quite good and we’re used in missiles to regulate systems as well as in several space capsules and astronauts and SR71 pilots were issued these.

It’s interesting they can be bought at reasonable prices and that they don’t get much recognition despite their history. Like any other mechanical watch, repairmen are becoming more scarce but there are still several that service them and have a good stash of parts.

This one I’ve had 25 years and my regular stainless since 1966.

This is an uncommon Rolex. First an uncommon band , second uncommon case. It is not a quartz movement and an only few with the quartz band and case that have mechanical movements.

Nice gold bezel and flat links of gold and steel...not polished.

I met a Ming Zu about 20 years ago, she was an actress. Now I know what her name (probably) meant.

Sweet! For now, my scale model will have to suffice, as the real thing is proving none too common.

This Supposed to be original with 21 Zuan ( 21 Jewel; 21 鑽 ), used, asking $860, it's a Military watch...Air Force, so, nowadays you wear this watch and jump into your Stealth Fighter J-31...or J-20 😂😂😂

You are probably thinking about the Sea-Gull limited-edition reissue:

I was aware of it, but also realized that it's 500+ USD! Mine came from "Gigididi Watch Store" (a Sea-Gull brand?). It too is marked "Tianjin Watch Factory", but the case back is different, and comes packed not in a presentation box, but a plastic box resembling a pint-sized Pelican case. Figured it would be sufficiently authentic for my purposes.

Stainless steel case
Original style "bubble canopy" crystal, feels like glass or similarly hard substance.
