In June my wife and I returned to Portugal. We love Lisbon, and had an opportunity to visit one of the districts away from the city center. I saw this scene in a bar in the Ourique District. I really like the image I captured there:

Steve, it warms me to see this. I lived in Portugal, 1978 - 1981, and I miss it. I lived in Brazil, 1975 - 1977, mostly in the Upper Amazon, but I had previously traveled through much of the country. I really loved living in another country, maneuvering in another culture, and speaking another language. I even dreamed in Portuguese.

Do you and your wife speak Portuguese?

Whilst on a local walk with the family took these with my phone, not the greatest of detail but good enough for location shots to go back and do again but these to me these have a niceness about them and surprised the phone handled them quite well.

As part of one of my own projects to dust the cobwebs off, as I mentioned in my intro, not really taken any pics for 23yrs, and the project is called. 'The Veins Of Life'.

Thank you so much, Murray. Alas, we do not speak Portuguese beyond a few simple phrases. The "problem" in that regard is that, in part due to the long association w/ England, so many Portuguese speak very good English...

Sometimes the simple things please me, a walk around the old school where my daughter used to go to rehearsals for her drama group. May have been the F90x with 85/2 Nikkor but it was 20ish yrs ago!

One here from a trip to Hong Kong in 2012. It's one that never gets rave reviews given its subject, but I like the crepuscular light (still a little lighter in the far western background over the harbour) and lifted slightly by the isolated lights here and there in the foreground and middle ground.

Taken from the elevated walkway to the Star Ferry Terminal.

Alla, Bali.
Another from deep history (2001) - shot in fact with a Nikon F801s and 28-85mm f3.5-45 AF. it was perfectly acceptable in color but I rather like the black and white version.450097890_10234802030811585_2497271331708460275_n.jpg
