Leonard Misonne - Belgian pictorialist - photographer

I did not know Leonard Misonne, thanks for the link.

I like his style and I'll research more about him. His subjects remind us of a world of the past but always fascinating.

Beautiful, thank you for posting. He used so many processes, he should have been around when they were coming up with Photoshop (then it would have been a more sensitive editing tool). Also the music seemed to be made for Misonne: it was perfect.

Beautiful compositions with spellbinding light. What's there not to like. Often photographs from nearly a century ago hold appeal because of the historical subject matter is fascinating, but in this case the artistic ability trumps the content and I envisioned some of the images in the video in a modern setting and I imagined I would find them equally compelling.

I think we have discussed pictorialism and specifically Leonard Missone's work here before. But I just came on this video over view and thought others might appreciate it. I find this kind of pictorialism very engaging. There is something mystical and ethereal about it.

Thanks Peter, I came across this video only today and found his work quite beautiful...

Those bromoils are gorgeous. In the 1990s I did a workshop with David Lewis and made some bromoils and mediobromes using Fotospeed/Cachet papers and specialised inks, and it was hard. Like really hard. Like mine looked like rubbish. The old masters really were masters, and I note that Missone was from a wealthy family and essentially photographed for himself from age 26. Lucky him. For me, life and a living beckoned.

Beautiful! Thanks @peterm1.
