Cosina has quietly added a new compact high-speed 90mm to their VM lineup.

The understated introduciton of this remarkable looking lens almost had me laughing about their lack of fanfare. Then the skit at the end had me laughing out loud. At this point their stunning VM lineup is so far ahead of other coupled rangefinder lensmakers, I can't help but think this video is throwing shade

This lens seems like a nice addition to the M-verse and I want one. But let's face it, making useful, beautifully finished, great-performing, reasonably-priced lenses isn't enough anymore. Cosina will need to start being a lot more savvy about sucking up to Instagram and YouTube influencers if they want to compete for mindshare with Thypoc and Light Lens Lab. (Although I admit I hope they don't do that!)

PS -- Can some Japanese-fluent person explain what's happening in the skit at the end?

The skit shows their guy Kento Hara so single minded (the word used at the beginning of the video in the scene with the cookies) about performing his task of lapping helicoids, that he makes a mountain of pepper on his salad. Then the satement: "the reason it keeps comming out is because we're so serious about craftsmanship". The subject 'it' is clearly not pepper, but innovative lenses

I hope they make an F mount version.
I have an F mount version of th3e Voigtlander Apo Lanthar 90mm f3.5. It's a lovely little lens - slower than I normally go for but it is diminutive, sharp and reproduces colors very nicely. A nice thing about it, is that it is chipped and so when mounted on a Nikon (rather than adapted to mirrorless) the aperture is controlled through the camera - as with Nikon AF lenses. A very nice small package. But I would love the Apo-Ultron f2 lens I am sure.

Very cool. The body design is similar to their micro four thirds Nokton lenses. There are likely to be Sony E and Nikon Z mount versions in the future, if Voigtlander releases are anything to go by. The minimum focus distance of 90cm can be improved by using the M mount version with a close focus adapter on a mirrorless camera, or a diopter.

Yes. The current 90mm f/2.8 APO Skopar looks like a great lens but I'd much rather have an f/2.0 aperture for a lens like this.

It looks like a nice lens, and not too big. The price seems reasonable too. I just wonder if I'd use it much ... I have my old standby (M-Rokkor 90mm f/4, same as Elmar-C 90mm f/4) which is small and light, but I just don't use that long a focal length very often. I use the 75mm much more often... was thinking of upgrading from the Summarit to the Summicron on that one. Hmm.

It looks like a nice lens, and obviously good placed to the market, since the Leica Apo-Summicron 90/2 is an old design now.
For me personally I see no big value since I already have the Apo-Skopar 90/2.8 and the Nokton 75/1.5 which are also good lenses.
