I capture my images while in a zone and worry only about exposure, framing and the moment. Later, I view my images the same as anyone else and with this one it struck me how the scene shows his isolation - as is the case with many these days that are constantly immersed within their cellphones - each of us who do the same in our own isolated corners. I could have walked up to him and I’m not sure he would have noticed, so engrossed he was.

I just dug up two rolls of Neopan 400 that were long-buried in the freezer for several consecutive moves over the past decade.

Both developed in Rodinal 1+50 for 11 minutes.

First three shots are from the Luxembourg American Cemetery, shot in December 2014. Likely a Nikon F100 with 20-35mm f/2.8 AF-D.

Second set of three shots is from 2011-ish, in Ypsilanti, MI, USA. Likely shot on Nikon F4 with 50mm f/1.2 AIS.
