DOA.
No mechanical shutter, no IBIS, same weight as better S9, but much more expensive.

Sigma is unable to make camera which just works without quirks and limitations.
 
It's disappointing that this is a fashion camera instead of a follow-up to the FP, which was rugged, flexible, and is still relevant in the video space with its uncompressed raw output. Only the rolling shutter was carried over, and now they've added capacitive touch buttons. I hope we don't see either of these in future cameras. But the true disappointment is that we're not seeing a new Foveon camera (though I know they took that project back to square one when they had to find a new manufacturing partner).

I do like the simplicity of the software control, Sigma has always had wonderful quick controls, but this looks even more improved. And the new design language and logo are a wash for me, I think they're fine if a little refreshing. I preferred the less luxury-oriented Sigma--the more creative and quirkier Sigma. To me, the FP and DPQ are still the most modern and practical cameras on the market in many ways. I just hope Foveon is on the roadmap of this new path that they seem to be following.

I'm not in any way in the market for a digital camera, but this would have my attention if I were. EXCEPT for the lack of an EVF. I have the same vision problem, and find it really hard to work from a screen. They will lose a significant number of customers if they don't at least provide for an accessory EVF.
It's a far cry from all the little knobs and levers of, say, a Barnack Leica, and that aesthetic always makes my heart beat faster. But the Sigma is equally beautiful in an utterly different way. The world needs more beauty and less junk.
 
glad it's something different
at least the profits from their fine lenses allow them to test alternative camera body possibilities - most of the other makers camera bodies are very samey right now (with a few outliers)

It is Sigma, they do whatever they want and if it sells, that's only a bonus!

I hope for an attachable evf in the future. One more fitting and streamlined that suits the bf aesthetic. In that way I'll won't needing to be eyeing out for the EVF - M at 5x the price 😆
 
OMG, I need it, I hate it, it's so original yet derivative, it's opulent but minimalist, it so impratical yet practical, it's carved from a single block of who cares, and I would buy one at the right price.
 
My iPhone backs up photos immediately to my iCloud. Young people expect to be able to do this with their digital devices. Sigma makes no mention of wireless/cloud connectivity - only USB-C. Seems like they haven’t read their market. Who is this camera intended for, if not young people? It looks cool but lack of connectivity is inexplicable.
 
They forgot one thing if this camera was designed to be used by a photographer... which to me it wasn't... something called a viewfinder. I wish them luck trying to sell this thing.
 
Style is the new substance :p In this, it joins other cameras including Leica T, Nikon Df, Zf, Zfc, OM System OM-3, and any number of retro-styled Fujifilm cameras. But I always liked T's slick modernist vibe, and Sigma BF looks a bit like it's spiritual successor, with a nod to Japanese calligraphy. Would I buy one? Don't know, but I think a pocket-sized Fujifilm medium format camera might get higher priority from me.

They can still do that with their phones. If they want to be more serious with their photography, they will have to compromise. I mean, let's be honest. They use film, instax, etc. You cannot paint all young people with the same brush.

Their market will be people who want a pretty camera that is small. People can figure out how to hook up the camera to their device.

It is intended for anyone who wants a small FF camera system. It'll be a social media darling no doubt.
 
another pointless camera from Sigma. i guess kudos to them for bucking tradition but why? milled from a single block of aluminum, how does that make any difference? who cares? stick to making lenses.
