FED2 Shutter Capping Problem

I've had a FED2 for about a year. It has a shutter capping problem. It leaves exposure uneven. With a part of the frame being lighter than the other. I have had the camera lubricated twice. And the tension has been adjusted. The issue has not been resolved. Has anyone else had this issue? Does anyone know of any ways to resolve it? I am planning to do a CLA. Not sure if that will work though.

Hello and welcome to the forum, ARCamera. I'm sure you thought you'd got a useful bite on your thread, but it's only me. I usually fix things by hitting them with a hammer, but I'm pretty sure you shouldn't really do that in this case. I'm sure someone will come along shortly that will be of use to you.

Welcome! The cause and possible solutions have been discussed recently. With a normal CLA the uneven exposure remains, but will be in unnoticeable tolerances for use with most films. (It also becomes more visible when you over or under expose)

FED 2: can't make equal exposure times across frame for all shutter settings

I'd always recommend a CLA, best done by a professional who has the proper lubricants and testing equipment. You get rid of all the old dust, dirt, grease and the camera becomes a joy to use.

I have my parents FED-2. I did real CLA. It means de-gunking of curtains drums spings.

On top of it I have FED-2 from famous here Oleg.

And Zorki serviced for real by another reputable person in FSU part.

Uneven exposure will come straight or later on.

Soviet built cameras are crap from get go.
Looks like shutter drums springs metal is losing it.

But if you haven't tried full lubrication it is memorable waste of time.

Also out of curiosity, do you know which glue could be used to reattach the ribbon and curtains to the spools? Mine are coming loose, likely due to overtensioning.
